I'm pretty sure LaRue Martin was our first Frenchie. =D
If it happened before I was either born or became a fan, it doesn't count

Do some of you still want to honor this jack wagon by retiring his number? Also, take him off your avatars and names if you would please![]()
I agree. Though I was thinking 'Blazers Circle of Fire' lol. Seriously, the retired numbers in this franchise is an utter joke. And no, Roy doesn't deserve his number retired any more than Twardzik or Steele.Rather than retire, we need to have a Blazers HOF and just induct people like Roy into the Blazers HOF. Retiring a number should be reserved for players that were so good that you couldn't possible envision someone else wearing that number.
According to KP, most of it was insured. I don't think it makes a hill of beans difference to the Blazers at this point.

Plus, only Kahn would be dumb enough to give the guy $5m/per, when he's already making a max contract. So, thank you Brandon for not only the great years in Portland, but also for taking up even more cap space in Minnesota than was necessary.
Win/win
cant really fault the guy for accepting 10 million dollars, but he was a sort of mythical creature before, now, just another flash in the pan
Maybe I should make this my new avatar...

Sure its been discussed and not saying I want it, but.....
Can an amnestied player be signed by another team and traded back to the club the amnestied before the original contract is up?
he cannot play for portland until his amnestied contract is over

I've said this for years! I think Walton and Drexler deserve it, I'd even toss in Lucas for being the steadying force for so long and he was a part of the 77 team, the rest of the players have no business being up there.
I would definitely not retire his number. He just didn't do it long enough, never got us out of the first round.

What cluster fuck? He was amnestied, which is what the Blazers wanted. Amnesty got the most money off the books the quickest, as I recall. Roy didn't screw the Blazers over in any way.
Ultimately, Lawrence said, Roy decided he wanted to join former Portland assistant coach Bill Bayno with a franchise he decided was "a team that's headed north."
...
Roy said he plans to move his wife and two young children to Minnesota, planning that it will be his future beyond the contract's two years. When asked by the Wolves at the meeting about the prospect of living in the frozen north, Roy said he wants his kids to experience a white Christmas.
