Do some of you still want to honor this jack wagon by retiring his number? Also, take him off your avatars and names if you would please

It bothered me that with the help of uninformed public opinion Roy was able to extort $80mil+ from the franchise when he and those in the know knew his wheels were going to fall off. As amazingly clutch as he was for us, for that brief time, I for some reason don't have the same soft spot in my heart for him that I hold for many other past Blazers. I don't care what Roy does as long as the money Paul Allen owes him doesn't cripple Paul's willingness or ability to spend to make the Blazers winners again.
According to KP, most of it was insured. I don't think it makes a hill of beans difference to the Blazers at this point.
according to KP Greg Oden's knees were pristine.
So....
Alrighty then.According to KP, most of it was insured. I don't think it makes a hill of beans difference to the Blazers at this point.
Same here. But then again, I was kind of souring on him after the whole Miller kerfuffle (sic) and I don't think he was quite the leader everybody thought he was ...
It really doesn't bother me. I can understand why he feels the urge to give it another try, and he can't play for us so it's not his fault that he is signing with another team. We amnestied him, he's not on our books anymore, so he's not dragging down our organization with his huge contract. I wish the guy luck. I don't think he's going to be able to play very much or very long, but I think he's entitled to at least get some closure on his career.

To be honest I wish him well.
I mean it would have been nice if he hadn't signed with a division opponent, but with Love, Rubio and Adelman I can see why he'd want to go somewhere with a good coach and system that will probably maximize whatever he has left in the tank, just filling in the gaps 15-20 minutes a night, for as long as his knees hold up.
But then again, I was kind of souring on him after the whole Miller kerfuffle (sic) and I don't think he was quite the leader everybody thought he was ... but that's all water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. It's the Damian Lillard era now -- and hopefully that's something to make us forget a little about what could have been.
On talent, Roy's number deserves to be retired. On career value, no.
Just depends on what you want out of the retired jerseys. IMO, currently, only Walton's jersey should be retired. I'm ambivalent about whether Roy's jersey should be retired. He was a phenomenal talent who put his stamp on the franchise, so I wouldn't see it as a terrible decision if so.
But should we name a street after him?
Bigger question: If Batum does depart for Minnesota...should the Blazers retire Batum's number?
Absolutely... he was our first Frenchman, right? And we should retire Patty Mills' number for being our first Aussie.
Blazers shouldnt retire roys number at all; not after the cluster fuck that is a medical retirement slash amnesty slash comeback
