Fact, we just don't know if Billups was a dupe or aware. I guess a trial will tell
That's not a fact, that's your opinion.

The indictment itself is damning to Billups. Normally these don't go to trial.

Billups, Rozier, D Jones are all done with the NBA for life IMO. Hasn't been announced yet but it will be eventually. Billups has much bigger problems than his Blazers contract. He may be sentenced to prison for years, even decades.

Yes or No: Do you know if Billups was aware or not?

How involved is Lebron in this?
At this point it seems injury status was given for both Lebron and Davis for certain games.

The thing with Lebron is he has been almost perfect off the court to this point. No scandals and obviously he has been solid. It's probably the reason so many have a bunch of hate for him. Anthony Davis has also been squeaky clean.
Just cannot fathom LBJ or Davis knowingly sitting out games for betting purposes.

so....3000 calls recorded on wiretaps. That's a lot. I'd imagine the feds have Billups on some of those calls

I'm thinking that some of the unindicted co-conspirators, including Chauncey, could end up indicted if the feds bring a RICO case...and with the crime families involved, that seems probable?

I'd tend to agree that we don't know Chauncey's level of guilt with the Poker charges, although the indictment certainly implies the feds have a strong notion about his level of guilt. Again, more than 90% of charges when the FBI leads results in conviction

setting that aside, it seems clear that the feds, from a wiretap, have Chauncey calling, or at least talking, to a gambler about changes in Portland's injury situation. To me, that's a damning part of all this and a big reason why he's done in the NBA....imo

If Chauncey knew it was rigged and knew what was going on and still went through with it, then F him in all honesty. Not the kind of PoS I would want mentoring our talented young squad. Thats some real scumbag stuff that went on, and if it is proven that Billups participated with knowledge of the details, I hope he gets the jail time he deserves.

Like 100% good riddance, go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect another check in the league.

This has been in the back of my mind. While I give him the benefit of the doubt for now, if it ends up that there is evidence to prove he was knowledgeable in his involvement of the rigging and defrauding others of Millions of dollars, this makes anything done by the “jail blazers” small in comparison.

I’d denounce him as a member of the Blazers and his affiliation will be meaningless in my book.

You’d almost expect there to be some involvement in 3000 recorded calls, and if there is no involvement then I feel like that has to be good for something as well.

He was making plenty of money to do that without setting people up to lose at Poker.
This is perhaps the wildest part about it to me. He was set… He was established in the league as a player, and now as a coach. His future was far from grim.

It’s got a long way to go, but this thread better not surpass the Melo thread, and if it does - Billups and Melo played together in Denver so TECHNICALLY this could be merged with the Melo thread.

If someone had asked me 5 years ago, between Melo and Billups, which one I think would be arrested because of a cheating scandal with the mafia, I would have gone with Melo all day long. Not even a hesitation.

On the topic of defrauding others: One should never consider another a sucker, less they want to end up being one themselves.

Billups’ guilt or innocence aside, I love that these aholes got caught. In all honesty Billups giving DNP info beforehand, while a definite no-no, is small potato’s next to bringing people to a poker game knowing that they are going to spend their money (in the 100’s of thousands) with no chance to win. That is 100% cheapskate stuff. Anybody and everybody involved with knowledge of this absolutely deserves to be held accountable.

Wild how you can win a few hands of poker and still lose at life. Really, what’s more important?

My heroin dealer sold me a bunk bag at and the whore gave me a lousy blowjob. I got ripped off so I am going to have them arrested. Man'splain me the diff?
