Re: Breaking News!

Yes! I hope we get an announcement this afternoon.

Re: Breaking News!

Extremly misleading...signing extension??? no where does it say that, it was completing

Re: Breaking News!

ban please :/

I ignore those who quote users already on my ignore list. DO NOT FEED THE TROLL(S)!!!

Question here. How is a user supposed to know which posters are on your ignore list? Or is everybody supposed to check who is on your list prior to posting?

Re: Breaking News!

How is that "extremely" misleading? Completing an extension seems essentially functionally equivalent to signing an extension. The point is, according to this report, the team and player are agreeing to an extension.

Re: Breaking News!

Ban me for what?!?

Thought it was a joke thread about some golfer, just from the headline.

Roy was scheduled to play in the two-day, four-team tournament that included alums from Franklin and O'Dea, but organizers said the two-time NBA All-Star was in Portland this weekend completing a contract extension with the Trail Blazers.

I mean... good to read but certainly not a definitive source. I'm not freaking out about the lack of extension (and wouldnt do it until this time next year) but it would be nice to see him sign. Having said that, I don't think the organizers of the golf event have any more info than we do...

Re: Breaking News!

First of all, not breaking news
Second, quote the article dont change it

Was this in the article?

Roy was scheduled to play in the two-day, four-team tournament that included alums from Franklin and O'Dea, but organizers said the two-time NBA All-Star was in Portland this weekend completing a contract extension with the Trail Blazers.

Why would this be bannable?

Re: Breaking News!

That's good news if he is in town. No reason for him to drive all the way down here if he isn't about to put some ink to the paper.

I would think the way you complete a contract extension would be by signing it.

Or do you think Blazer management is going to jerk Roy around by bringing him down to Portland for nothing and have him miss a scheduled event?

Still, this is the most positive information I've heard concerning Roy's extension all summer.

Re: Breaking News!

And Percy Allen's generally a decent writer. He doesn't have any Columnist of the Year awards that I know of, but he doesn't generally make crap up.

Re: Breaking News!

Completing could just mean "working on it", the article references the "organizers" i mean come on

We saw him on Saturday here in Tualatin. Some friends of ours live on the same street as Roy and we went to a BBQ there Saturday. I did mention to my wife that it was odd for him to be in town, since he's usually in Seattle during the summer.

So...

this may be more than just a mere coincidence. :dunno:

Re: Breaking News!

I dunno. The correct translation may be that Roy said "Yeah, y'know, I'd really love to play at your tournament and all, but I, um, have got to wash my hair, er, I mean, finish my contract negotiations, yeah, that's it. So, maybe next year?"

barfo

Re: Breaking News!

I think it's perfectly reasonable to post this FWIW Sly. Hilarious we have to get this info from page D18 of a Seattle area newspaper.

Re: Breaking News!

I'll try to find a link, barfo, but I don't think so. Even in the past when he's not played in tournaments like this (there are a couple of these charity ones every summer, and guys like Crawford, Nate, Hawes, Roy, etc. come back to play) he's been a coach, or in the front row, or something. The Seattle NBA'ers are pretty tight up here, supporting each others' events.

Thank you. That sig has always pissed me off. Like I'm supposed to give a shit that some random dude is willing to put me on an ignore list for an entirely arbitrary reason. Lame.

Are you saying Roy is a deceptive jerk? The vilification of Roy continues... :sigh:

You might be right Barfo, it's not like Roy wants to get hurt in something like this while in contract negotiations. He did opt out of Team USA after all.

Re: Breaking News!

Completing could easily be taken as trying to complete.

I am in the process of completing a major acquisition where I work....(insert joke here), but it's far from signed.

That's funny I love that sig minus that confusing line at the end.

Thanks Idog! Maybe I shouldn't have posted it or labeled it as breaking or signing but it's the first piece of positive news I've seen on this subject.

Seems like then it would read "working on" as opposed to completing.
