I love this trade for us. Isiah realizes we're not going anywhere and we get a first round pick. Rose has also been playing well as of late, so he might be able to help us. Plus his contract expires next season.

Knicks actually trading for a first round pick? Interesting. Does anybody know if the pick is for this year or next year? I'm just curious.

The details are sketchy, but I'm pretty sure its a lottery protected Nuggets pick. Since Isiah traded our likely lottery pick, he didn't want to be totally embarrassed come June. Maybe we can package our Spurs pick plus Toronto's pick and get an even better pick.

I like this trade more for the Knicks than for the Raptors. We get a 1st round draft pick and possibly a contributor. To(o?) bad both teams play today. I would have liked to see Jalen vs. the Raptors.

The Knicks might have one of the worst perimeter defense's ever by adding Rose to an already lackluster defense.

I think this a great trade for the Knicks. Not only they get Rose but also a first rounder. That's great.

Wow, the Knicks keep getting big contracts onto their cap. Are they ever going to get out of that hole.

The T. Rapts must like their Rookies, alot!

His contract expires next year Mr.Wade so its not like we're takin in a huge contract.

Bonehead move by Isiah. He just keeps piling up bad contracts and a bunch of talent that doesn't fit. Personally I think Rose will do well on this team but someone is going to fall off as far as their production goes. But at the end of the day Isiah needs to get complementary players not just a bunch of talent and make them play together.

correct me if im wrong, wasn't antonio davis JUST on the raptors?!?! I hope he likes canada!

well
i dont think the knicks pulled a smart move with this trade
because of:
A) capspace has always been a problem for the knicks and adding 15 mill for another season..not good
cool.gif
all the current knicks are not fitting in with LB's sytem, what makes you guys think that rose will? he contributed to the raps because our defence is ****..and we mostly played an offensive type of game--and rose isnt very a defensive type of player

the smart move:
once again as mentioned: getting a first round pick..with this pick you guys probably wont get a really good contributor..but itll do because you guys aldready wasted your other pick

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Is it true that Team USA coach Larry Brown used to have an issue with you?

I played for Larry Brown and that was the worst season I ever had in my life. [Brown] felt that was going to be his last year in Indiana, so he took it out on me. I got 15 DNP's [Did Not Plays]. I can name the guys he had playing in front of me: Vincent Askew, Haywoood Workman and Reggie Williams. He was pulling guys out the parking lot to play in front of me.

You flourished after he left the Pacers.

That's when Larry Bird became my coach. He was the No. 1 influence on my pro career. I would have never thought that, especially since I hated him growing up. I was an Isiah [Thomas] fan. How ironic is it that those people have a direct influence on my career. Isiah Thomas is like family. I have a unique situation because these guys are mentors to me. That's everything. At the end of the day, you play ball for people that know the game. You don't play for the people that just look at the numbers or the hype. You play for the legends and pioneers that know the game.</div>

You guys are acting as if salary cap matters. We are the New York Knicks, remember? And it’s not like Rose’s contract ends like in 2010. It expires right after Davis contract expires. So, next year the Knicks will have an expiring contract too. The Knicks are not in a dog fight for the Atlantic division. The point of this trade, well, at least for me, was to get the pick. I don’t care about this season or how Rose meshes, really. What matters is getting the Nuggets’ pick, and the Spurs pick since our pick belongs to the Bulls. We’ll talk about Rose gelling in the system later. For now we should be happy to get a legit mid first round pick.

who else can we trade for davis? rose was the best option and davis is never playing any defense at all

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Raptors finally traded Jalen Rose on Friday, sending him to the New York Knicks for fellow forward Antonio Davis.

The Knicks also received a first-round draft pick and an undisclosed amount of cash from the Raptors in the deal involving dismal teams who were set to play each other Friday night in Toronto. </div>

Interesting trade for the Knicks, I think Rose is the type of player they needed to be the initiator. Plus you have to like his enthusiasm ...

"I can't wait to play in front of the many Knicks fans, friends and family in the NYC area and very much look forward to being a part of the Knicks organization," Rose said in a statement. "Ask any athlete. One of his dreams is to play in New York wearing a Knick uniform. It's also always been a dream of mine."

The Knicks also get a draft pick in the deal, which will land them another solid player in next year's draft.

I also like this deal for the Raptors, even if AD decides not to report or simply retires.

Now let's see what Isiah can do with Penny Hardaway's contract, and if there is already a deal in place to unload Crawford or QRich.

Another big contract for the Knicks we'll see if he's worth the big bucks.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dtpxcore:</div><div class="quote_post">Another big contract for the Knicks we'll see if he's worth the big bucks.</div>

Uh, Jalen Rose is definitely NOT worth 15 million dollars a year. He'll probably average around 18/4/4, but his defense definitely is going to be something Knicks fans are going to be frustrated with.

You have to ask yourself, can the Knicks defense get any worse?

I actually approve of this trade. Rose's contract ends next year so in the long run its not really an issue salary cap wise. The draft pick is the real prize in this deal. It's not a high pick but there are a few interesting prospects that will still be available in the early twenties. And as a added bonus we lose a power forward and make some room for David Lee. I dont know why the Raptors did this deal but I am happy to know that losing Babcock hasnt improved their decision making.

Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

We also get cash in this deal, too. Don't know how much though.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont know why the Raptors did this deal</div>

It's called a youth movement. It frees up more time and shots for Villanueva, Bosh and Graham while letting the young guys develop their talent and chemistry. The pick isn't that big of a deal, it's a 20-25th overall selection, so it's not that big of a loss. You guys can have your low pick though, I think Toronto will be just happy with a lottery pick, something the Knicks won't have because Isiah is a moron.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">We also get cash in this deal, too. Don't know how much though.</div>

Somewhere around 3.5 Mil.

Its one of those situations, where two organizations benefited in their own way because of different directions.

The Knicks needed a draft pick this year, to justify their semi-rebuilding. I don't know how Rose will perform, but I'm guessing that Knicks fans don't particularily care. Am I right in saying that Rose's contract probably expires along with a lot of other major ones?

The Raps had ask a tough question in the end. Was the Nuggets pick (likely to be in the 20's) going to be equal to the player/players that extra cap space. This draft, IMO, is comparitively weak and is predominantly guards and swingmen. Also, Embry seems to be doing his part in clearing the playing field for the new GM.

Holy smokes, I saw these two guys leaving teams but I didn't see this coming. Great upgrade for the Knicks, I don't know how Toronto will benefit from this trade.

First of all I can't see how there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Knick fans, because of the bonehead move of Isaih of trading away their now 4th pick overall in the Eddy Curry move.

Secondly, as a Raptor fan I don't want to be the next Chicago Bulls, having like 8 rookies on the roster and trying to go from there, becuase that hardly works.

If we had kept this Nuggets pick, the Raptors would've had 4 sophs, 4 rookies next year. (3 rookies in next years draft + possibly Ukic). This is just way too much youth when we already have enough to build around.

So that's to jutify that. And to the Knicks good luck in rebuilding with Isaih.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">You have to ask yourself, can the Knicks defense get any worse?</div>

When you subtract Davis and add Rose, yes it can.

i like this trade for 1 reason. the fact that jalen can play the pg for NY. Jalen is a point guard whos been forced to put up big numbers (playing out of position) because of his hieght advantage.

If i was brown I'd put rose at the point and let Marbury go to town. rose will be great at setting up curry in the middle. On defence marbury can guard the PG and jalen can guard the sg's. this trade may seem bad but i see it as a decent quick fix seeing that NY despratly needed a PG. When rose was at chicago they had too many PG's now it will be his focus to get the the rest of the team buckets.

BUt we will see
G.L. NY

Jalen cannot play PG for anyone. Stephon, Nate, and Jamal are all better options at the point than Rose. At this stage of his career, he has evolved into a swingman.

somebody said "i hope [Antonio Davis] likes Canada!"
Well it is often voted the nicest country to live worldwide so he can probably deal with it.
this can't be the end of Isaiah's tampering. He has to have a bigger agenda in mind, hopefully moving Stephon. Stephon=Cancer to your team. it's really that simple.
