This is going to help schools like Jesuit and Central Catholic. They can now pretty much pay players to go there.
SPOILER ALERT: THEY ALWAYS DID.
Wait........ who is making money off their name, image and likeness?
I sold yours for 5 dogecoins!

Jesuit and Central Catholic has more-or-less been paying for athletes through tuition waivers, access to club teams, private lessons, etc. so this is unlikely to change the imbalance of power more than it already is.This is going to help schools like Jesuit and Central Catholic. Too young. Its helping spread the disease of social media addiction.
Kids are growing up too fast and they are not able to handle it.
Marketing is out of control. Children should not be a commodity.
They’ve been doing that already for decades FAMSThis is going to help schools like Jesuit and Central Catholic. They can now pretty much pay players to go there.
I agree completely. Poor Mrs. HCP can't stay in bed forever.Nice job finding a way to supplement the family income.![]()
This news doesn't make sense to me.
As far as I know OnlyFans accounts have been available in Oregon for some time already.

Good thing LeBron didn't have to deal with marketing, name/image/likeness benefits, and social media...

How much money did you get to play on their fencing team?
ALOT has changed in almost 20 years.
This has potential to now have the world tell teens they suck, etc.
social media can be vial.
watch teen suicides increase as they go to try to promote themselves thinking they are the shit, to find out the world thinks they suck.
Remember, most high school athletes never make a college team, let alone a pro sports contract.
I see many many teens finding out/being told very harshly via social media l, that they suck.
If you want to make a case to ban social media for children, I'm all ears.
This thread is about getting paid for name/image/likeness, which is very different that social media.

How do you think that image is built if not thru social media?
Success on their high school team, success on their club (AAU, 7 on 7, etc) team, standard media, etc.
LeBron had an image without a TikTok account.
Quinn Ewers got PAID by Ohio St without being some viral social media sensation pumping out amazing content. There are plenty of examples.
Lebron is debatably the greatest athlete of all time at 16.
And you are proving my point. The great players will make money regardless. The rest(90+%) will be met with a rude awaking. Why amplify the disappointment of all of the athletes who are not good enough?
Got no problem with this. It's the individuals own name, image, and likeness. You should be able to make money off of yourself if you desire.
The ones that will get NIL deals are already on social media, and already followed by thousands of people. Joe schmoe who won't get a college scholarship isn't going to be pulling in NIL deals. Companies want exposure. Backup PG on Franklin H.S. isn't going to get a brand exposure. How do you think that image is built if not thru social media?
Same! I wish the grocery store was paying me more for my baseball skills but, alas, NIL wasn't around, had to keep that eligibility open!Hot take!
I know I'm thankful I was able to profit on my grocery bagging talents at 16!
