The guy had a disgraceful spring. Hasn't hit a lick. Getting picked off bases and thrown out stealing. Striking out left and right. He's beyond overrated.

I haven't really seen a whole lot this Spring to be optimistic about going into the regular season.

Me 3......

In fact, from what few games I've seen this ST, I gotta' feeling this year will make last year look like a great one.....

All the starters in the line up today, being shut out 3-0 in the 8th.

I know its only ST, but less than a week away to Opening Day, and the Bombers seem out of fuel and weapons....WTF....I don't like what I've seen thus far....

I don't really pay attention to ST stats but I took a look earlier just for the hell of it. Gardner is clearly the worst of them all. Even the rookies aren't as pathetic. Get him an eye exam for crying out loud.

It's really not going to be shocking to see this team struggle offensively. You can be void the huge slugger if you atleast have some really good hitters on the roster. Just too much mediocrity or guys at the end of their careers.

You hit the nail square on the round head......mediocrity with High $$$ contracts........

Gardner seriously needs to improve his batting eye- he swings at too many bad pitches.
I guess we can tolerate his 120 or so Ks, a mediocre reg season BA (with limited power and lackluster OBP) if he steals 40-50 bases per year....or is it up to 60 SB ?

He better be doing ALOT of running. lmao

I just cannot help myself.................
But, I think Gardner is ready to run himself
right out of Yankee Stadium. LMAO

Really. I cannot take anything about this team
seriously.

According to most of the board....
......no problem, as long as he steals his 40-50 bases...
Or has the board raised it to 60?
I've never been able to nail down any approx number of steals "the board" thinks he should have in a "normal" season? Lol

And you were doing so well. Guess you missed all the attention which explains why you're reverting back to being an ass.

...I would have thought the thread he's referencing was embarrassing enough for him...as I remember, we were talking about something entirely different which was Gardner's poor base running/stealing instincts...but he hijacked yet another thread by predictably going off on another tangent by irrelevantly pointing to OBP as the real issue...don't know why he'd want to bring it up again.

No, you cannot put up with that many strikeouts for a guy who isn't hitting over 30 homers.

^^^not to mention batting 1st or second in the line up while striking out that often.

And I've also agreed he should be more agressive in SB att.
But as I've also said...which you and others conviently failed to address is:
Unless you expect Gardner to routinely have more than 50 SB in a season, we're really talking about a difference of 15-20 SB compared to his previous seasonal highs, aren't we?
And if you think this is a difference maker in the Yanks being pennant contender,I disagree.
Care to poll the board? Oops, I forgot, you have a couple of puppets.lol

Read the following regarding my opinion of Gardner which includes OBP, SB, not being as agressive as he could be on the bases, striking out 120 or so times, ect.
And read it twice so you get it right.

Ready, set, go!

The Yanks will be better served if Gardner first improves as a hitter, even if he continues to steal "only" 25 or so bases.

Think about it as you watch him flounder with the bat.

Care to take a poll on THIS? I don't think so.

Hey smartass, YES or NO, was using the words "good young arm" in describing German WHEN the trade was made a fair description?

One word sums it up: Anal-yst.........!!!

Holy shit, just unbelievable.

Honestly, I wonder if Ricky Henderson would be willing to come out of retirement.....

I have no doubt Ricky could damn near do a better job, regardless of His age.....!

Godner will punish you non believing infadels!

I like Gardner.
I just don't want him to turn into a .255 hitter with 15-17 HRs, striking out well over 100 times.

After all, the majority of the board believes he should be a consistent 40-50 SB guy.

He SHOULD be & has proven in the past that he can be. He just stopped running the last few seasons. What part of this don't you understand? And don't tell me to read post #18 or #4 or #67. You're turning another thread into your own personal bullshit forum.

Nope, not true.
Post 18- REGARDING Gardner and his base stealing from the past two seasons compared to those earlier seasons when he stole over 40 bases.
I would also like to see him steal 45 bases.

Please, try it again for some perspective.

I disagree.

That's all, I'm done, over and out.
