Sounds like the health issue that caused the postponement of the M&G (scrotal lymphedema) is severe enough that he's taking at least a couple weeks off to deal with it. Scott Lynn will be filling in for him in his absence.

Get well soon Wheels!!

Wheeler, 55, will miss Friday’s exhibition finale at the Moda Center, then at least the first three games of the regular season as he battles scrotal lymphedema. The condition, which caused him to miss four games in November of 2013, has returned and made it painful for him to sit through a broadcast, Wheeler said.

“I’m in a lot of discomfort,’’ Wheeler said after calling Wednesday’s game at Phoenix. “The hard part is the condition has now made it somewhat painful just to sit for extended periods, such as the length of a game. The entire preseason I was standing during every timeout by the third quarter … to no avail.’’

I guess Schonz is too old to even fill in temporarily....
Yeah, he's said that he's no longer mentally or verbally agile enough to be able to keep up with calling an NBA game.

I just don't get it. He had the stomach reduction surgery and had lost some weight, but now he's as big as ever. How is that possible when surrounded by professional trainers, chefs, etc?

I hope Wheels gets better soon. That sounds like a very uncomfortable condition.

Surgery isn't a cure. Not even close.

I think he relapsed and never got back on track

There's a surprisingly high percentage of people for whom that surgery doesn't work - something like 30%. Their body rejects it. My brother had it. Lost 100 lbs, and a few years later, he gained it all back. Emotionally heartbreaking and physically difficult.
