Since the epic game 7 meltdown they've swept us twice in the playoffs. We've always done real good against them in the regular season but when it ultimately matters they've kicked our ass.

I don't think we've faced them since the big home streak started (I know it's over now, but still)... and you *know* our fans will be frothy over a game or two against the Lake Show. If we're not good enough to get out of the first round, might as well face the hardest team possible, so that any success that might happen is amplified.

I believe we have a chance of getting out of the first round, but not against the Lakers. I'd rather have a 20% chance (or whatever) of getting out of the first round then having some sort of moral victory for losing to a better team.

No matter who the 8th seed is in the west, they're going to be one of, if not the best 8th seed ever. And the Lakers aren't the best 1 seed ever, not by a long shot. I would rather play the Lakers than the Nuggets or Jazz. Sure, we are most likely going to be butt fucked by the refs, but at least I can blame the refs when we lose the series. I don't want a repeat of last year, when I had my hopes up that our team was going to advance to the second round.
