@WojYahooNBA: Portland's scouting director Chad Buchanan has reached agreement in principle to become Charlotte's assistant GM, league sources tell Yahoo.

Why was he bad? What did he do that was so bad? honest question.

Didn't he want Faried and Denver forced an agreement in which we had to pick someone else or something? I mean the whole idea of a Felton/Smith for Miller/Faried is a shit sandwich but at the time Felton looked like a good fit.

That wild guess was an attempt to explain the inexplicable.

I honestly can't remember. But I do recall forming a very strong (negative) opinion of him 2 (maybe 3?) years ago. Slightly before everyone was saying he should just be our GM.

wasnt buchanon the one who engineered the trade that got us lillard? i wish him the best

Nate

McMillan

Drafted

Him

That was my theory too, because of the Coach K connection. But we're all guessing, whether it's that theory or the "secret part of the Miller-for-Felton trade" theory.

Who knows how much of a voice Buchanan had in the draft room, but assuming he had a role in bringing in such flops as Babbitt, Smith, Bayless, et al. I guess you could say he wasn't exactly irreplaceable.

Honestly, Neil Probably just wants to bring in more of his own guys and that's completely his prerogative.

Exactly any role in drafting Babbitt and Smith deserves punishment

Good: Trading Wallace for Pick that became Lillard, signing Wesley when he was unknown to most

Bad: Draft picks Babbitt, NSmith, AJohnson, Claver and Trade for Felton

Depending on how much input he had regarding Lillard goes a long ways towards the good outweighing the bad

Wesley was reportedly the plan even before we gave B the interm GM label next to his name. Also I think Kevin drafted Claver.
Add jeff pendagraph and dante cunninghman to the good picks since they were second rounders and are still in the league l

Also noone really knows why we drafted Smith over Faried but McMillian was really high on Smith.

Well, if Nate wanted Nolan, he was high on something.

Buchanan is another of our secret double agents that are sent out to blow up the competition.

He got rid of Raymond Felton and the Greek he traded him for was part of the deal that brought TRob here as well as the Gerald Wallace deal that turned into Lillard. Credit where credit is due.

What was his actual job? I thought he was a scout, not a decision maker?

actually he shared it with Larry Miller and seemed reluctant about doing it at all.
