Bucks fire Griffin (1 Viewer)

I think Doc and Stotts would be a great combo for the Bucks.

The Bucks did what the Blazers were afraid to do, build a team for a 1 or 2 hard run for a ring.

Griffith is similar to Billups, wants to build a young team to fit his vision. Neither are what you want to lead a vet team, neither have experience in leading a vet team. While I would never want Doc to coach the Blazers he is a players-friendly coach that the locker room will listen to. He can get all the players on the same page. One of Stotts' greatest strengths has putting players in their best positions for the skills they have. Stotts polished a lot of turds for the Blazers. Made a lot of 2nd round players look better than they were, made so first round players that many considered washed actually look good.

Doc's championship season was with Thibs as his defensive coordinator...without Thibs see Docs failures with the Clippers and 76ers.....guys bailed on him. Bucks will be fools to hire Rivers in my view.

That's the problem with coaches like Griffin and Billups...they have a vision and try to force it, even when it doesn't work or when the players don't fit it. You have to build around what you have. One of the most important qualities of a successful coach is adaptability.

Griffin had the talent on his roster, so they had the wins, but they players weren't really able to fit in his system. Hence his firing.

Wtf? They are 30-13, second in the east and over all. Has a coach ever been fired their first year with that kind of record?
the Bucks weren't playing optimal basketball, which is the cover story for the media. They barely beat Detroit, and lost by 30 w/out Giannis. The Bucks are STRUGGLING (yah right).

I think Griffin went on a power trip when he grabbed the top command post. All we know is Griffin totally freaked out and screamed at Stotts in training camp, which made Terry resign.

Was there more unhinged Coach Griffin moments that we don't know about?? The Bucks needed to fix things immediately, and on court production seems like the last thing on their list of problems.

David Blatt in 15/16 because Lebron didn't like him. They won the Championship with Lue though in that year

Is that the year they took a timeout and Lue wasn't anywhere near the huddle

I'm almost rooting for Doc to get the job just for the entertainment value. It's always been kinda fun watching him take loaded rosters and flushing their legitimate hopes down the drain with his bonehead moves.....
Amazing how Doc Rivers keeps getting hired, even though he can’t coach his way out of a paper bag.

Hey, if you give him three HOFers who are still just barely in their prime, he can win a ring.

Oops. Quoted Nate in error. Meant to quote this:

“Could Mo Cheeks be in charge of popcorn distribution?

STOMP“

you like stale popcorn?

They dropped from 4th to 22nd in defensive efficiency under Griffin. Sure, some of that may be attributable to Dame defending like a wet blanket, but the others on the court including Giannis weren’t defending much better. Every win was a struggle including against teams like Detroit who they should’ve been blowing out by 30 given the disparity in talent.

Not convinced Doc will fare much better than Griffin but the organization felt they had to do something because the team, despite the record, looked like first or second round fodder under Griffin.

And to those who thought Stotts would/should land the head coaching job … really?!? I would be absolutely shocked if he was ever a HC in the league again. That playoff record is a stain he will carry wherever he goes.

One of my biggest complaints about Doc Rivers when he coached teams that played against the Blazers was the way he worked the Refs. You have got to admit having a coach that works the sidelines like that will be positive for Dame.
I remember Doc complaining once about Lillard getting calls in one of his post game remarks.
You have to figure Doc will use that to his advantage.

most of my distaste of Doc is due to his outbursts on the sidelines manipulating refs. Many other coaches would have racked up T’s with his flamboyant behavior.
Ever seen a coach flop? Watch some Doc clips.

but I agree. It will likely help them.
But let’s see.
Gifted a contender in Boston.
Gifted a contender in LA
Gifted a contender in Phili
Gifted a contender in Milwaukie.

Weak sauce.

here's the ultimate YouTuber trying to convince us why the Bucks fired Griffin.

Kevin & Paul do the science of why Griffin got fired

I like how Pierce is talking about Chemistry and lock in time at 15 games left. March. These guys coasted until March is pretty much what I got from that.
