Great post. All valid thoughtsSo, to repeat:
Pistons don't even try to resign Monroe or sign and trade him, so get NOTHING for him.
Pistons now much better.
Bucks up-and-coming exciting young playoff team. Need "extra piece". Sign Monroe.
Bucks now worse.
Bucks shopping Monroe.
Is that the timetable?

It all comes down to what you have to give up for him? If the Blazers can trade for him using cap room and some small pieces, that is not so bad. Given he doesn't play defense and is basically on a 1- year deal, I can't believe teams are rolling out big offers for him.
That said, the same guy that told me that they would go after him in the first place long before it happened thinks the Blazers will make a run at him again. He actually fits fairly well with Meyers who can stretch the floor but then also play defensive Center which he is much better at than playing defense at the '4'. The problem then is Monroe would have to guard PF''s.
We could trade Aminu/Davis/Connaughton without using any cap space for Monroe...... but man that sure seems expensive.

I think he is our plan C or D option if we strike out in free agency. Not a priority but a backup plan.
You'd have to be a pretty big Harkless believer to trade Aminu.
I'm probably a little too hard, but my feeling is that they got him using capspace, they're unhappy, they shouldn't get more than what they got him for - so, cap space and future 2nds. Otherwise, they can keep him.

back to my "order matters" post, we don't pursue him at all unless we strike out in FA. I think Whiteside and Horford are our plan A1 and A2.But I'd rather use that cap space on something awesome..... not a throw-away player like Monroe.
Ryan Anderson? So who is the perfect player to start next to Monroe? What type of power forward?
Forget about D entirely and try to win with scores like 124-121?Ryan Anderson?
For me, I'd MUCH rather try to get Millsap and Horford or Whiteside.
The reason why nobody wants Monroe is because he has to play center, but he plays zero defense. If he could play next to a rim protector it would be fine, but he can't. Drummond is the ultimate rim protector and they played HORRIBLE next to each other.
So would a low post scorer, and a guy who could stretch the defense a bit too.
Then that's not Monroe. He does most of his scoring down low (average FG distance 4.1 ft.). He really doesn't have a midrange game (only 6.7% of his FGA were in the 10 - 16 ft. range) and he has never made a 3-pointer in his 6-year NBA career.
Monroe doesn't create space, he consumes it. That's why he was such a poor fit next to Drummond.
He would be a good fit next to Al Horford, if we could get both, but that says more about Horford than Monroe. Horford is versatile enough to be a good fit with almost anyone. And, if we can get Al Horford, I say fuck Greg Monroe, his shitty defense, his $17 million one year rental and his limited offensive game.
BNM
Actually, the perfect player to have next to Monroe would be Mason Plumlee with a jumpshot.
Ya, I really wanted him last year, but this year I hope Neil passes instead of swings and misses
