Building around Avdija and Sharpe

Yes.

I think you are looking at AD, with a bit more aggression/motivation.

Anthony Davis or Adrian Dantley?

I don't see much comparison to Davis. Davis is long with his 7'6 inch wingspan. Very difficult to cover both on the inside and on the perimeter.

Flagg is yet to be officially measured, but he does not look long. He does, however, do other things better than Davis, but I see zero comparison in their game.

Don't get me wrong, I think Flagg is going to be great, but it's yet to be seen if he will dominate offensively IMO

I think he will. The thing about Flagg is that he doesn't have any weaknesses in his game that I can see. That's probably why he leads the Duke team in just about every statistical category. That is rare to see on a team that talented.

So he's like a prime, young, uninjured Brandon Roy.

We don’t have minutes for Flagg. Sharpe/Tou/Deni is the future. Can Flagg play PG? Then what do we do with Scoot?

Scoot has improved and shows promise on occasion but he isn't even in the same zip code as Flagg.

Why would we draft Chris Paul when we already have Sebastian Telfair???? Let's not go down that road again.

If we luck into Cooper Flagg, then he starts at the 3 and TC comes off the bench for both the 3 and 4. He can get 30 mins a game from both spots.

Scoot
Shae
Flagg
Deni

For the love of god please get the 3 biggest contracts off the team and go young now. I don't have faith in Cronin to do that.

Any chance we trade our first rd pick this year's to get rid of both grant and ayton? And for what

He's basically bigger Tatum.

Yeah. it’s over Johnny.

I would love to get Flagg, but the argument we are all making is that we lack a star who can take over games to win a championship. I am not sure Flagg is that type of star. He certainly would be a key component, but will he dominate on the offensive end against NBA players? Maybe, maybe not. What seems to be certain is he will be a really good player......but a dominant player?
Was Tim Duncan a dominant player? I think he'll be the Duncan of SFs... the ultimate connector who makes everyone better on both ends of the court. Like TD he's not the guy you always iso when the game is on the line, but he's a solid option especially if he has a favorable matchup. Portland's two young guards should be solid end of the clock options too.

So you are saying we don't need a dominant player to be a contender?
I would agree.

29 out of 30 champions not only had one dominant player, several had two. The one 'kind-of-exception', Detroit, 21 years and 4 CBA's ago had 4 all-stars in their starting lineup

this notion that a team can actually contend, rather than just pretend, without a superstar, is pretty loopy. If it was that possible, the list above would look a lot different

I don’t know, but go find that footage of him destroying Team USA last early summer in camp prepping for Paris. He was holding his own in my opinion.

Ans how many guys on our current roster projects as a superstar or even an All Star?

The team has to make shots to get assists. Using assist% as a point is poor at best.
AST% isnt make/miss dependent, its the percentage of made shots that were assisted.

I think if we get Flagg and maybe even if we get Bailey that it will be Scoot coming off the bench. Both Shae and Deni initiate the offense very well. The kind of size and athleticism you could put on the court would be overwhelming to opponents.

Yes, for a 17-year-old old he looked amazing, but do you see any NBA-type defense being played in this scrimmage? No doubt he will be a star in the NBA, but my point was that everyone seems to think the only way the Blazers can compete for a title is if we draft a wing who can take over games and dominate offensively. I am not sure that he is that type of star. As Stomp said, he is "the ultimate connector".

On D, Flagg knows what he’s doing.
On O, against college players — against good teams — Flagg will decide time to shoot a 3 and make it … feels like a spin move to the hoop … drive and dish … BUT there will be plenty of work to do that against NBA players.

He’s a dude. A sure-thing kind of guy. Harper looks like an NBA guy. Everyone else? Skills, abilities, potential … and a good to excellent class with some guys not drafted in the top 4 who will hit and make some GM looks good (and bad for passing on them). That’s what I expect. Keep the pick unless it’s a needle moving trade. Like the results of the Deni trade.

Build around Deni and Shaedon? Yes and no. Add-in the names Toumani and Donovan as keepers and the answer is yes. Scoot, too? I think so. It doesn’t mean putting Shaedon on the no-trade list, but that trade would be big.
