It won?t work.So long as folks can come here and realize the dream of living a better life people will continue to come. We need a sensible immigration policy, not a fence.

Well it wont stop everybody, but no laws stop everyone who is willing to break them. what its going to do is stop the flood of them who get over here easily, and it will also stop the Mexican Military from incroching on American Soil.

<span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">Well, hopefully, this fence will be built before everyone at my school goes by the names of Pablo, Juan and Jose.</span>

And it's hilarious to hear mexicans on the radio yelling how bad of an idea it is. They just want to take over our country. Go ruin your own country again, not ours.

<span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">I don't think they had a real chance of ruining our country. I don't like hearing people say, "Those filthy Mexicans are taking our jobs!" What jobs? C'mon now! We, American-born citizens, wouldn't mow lawns (unless we're teenagers during the summer time) or work out in the fields! If Mexicans take those jobs, let them take 'em. We won't do those jobs anyway.</span>

Yeah I defiently agree. We need to stop illegal immigration, but without illegal immigrants alotve jobs wouldnt get done and would be alot more expensive.

I know a fence won't solve everything but it's a start.

Mexicans get such discrimination... it's like blacks back then.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Heatfan32 @ Oct 27 2006, 04:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Mexicans get such discrimination... it's like blacks back then.</div> It's not even close to black discrimination....They come here illegally, they break our laws, I don't blame people for being upset over it.

OH MY LORD. Tell me you guys did NOT just say mexicans are doing the jobs nobody else wants.Ok first of all, who did those jobs before all this immigration? Americans! We WILL do them.People WILL do those jobs, there is just one problem: the stupid farmers and such only pay low wages that only illegals will work for. If we cut off the illegals, then those farmers wouldn't be able to do slave wages, and raise them. Then Americans will take those jobs.Americans WILL do the work, you just have to PAY at least a modest salary. If we cut off illegals, and raised the wages, then Americans would almost HAVE to take those jobs, and that helps our economy. All that unemployment in America. Right now they say "I don't have a job because illegals take it for lower wages." Ditch the illegals and raise the wages, then what's their excuse? Nothing. They'll take the job.

No, the labor will be alot more expensice cause A)There will fewer workers, meaning they will have to work more and they will want more money B)The Americans who do take the job will want more money than the illegel immigrants. But your right, we would HAVE TO take those jobs. And they are nowhere close to be discriminated like black people. Your insane for saying that.

As long as they can find work here, and can give their children the hope of a better life they will continue to come here, a fence will not stop them. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Illosophee @ Oct 27 2006, 01:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'><span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">Well, hopefully, this fence will be built before everyone at my school goes by the names of Pablo, Juan and Jose.</span></div>What?s wrong with going to school with kids named Pablo, Juan and Jose?

Americans will take the jobs, like someone said it will be teenagers. but there are also legal immigrants here who will take the low paying jobs. I'm not against having Americanos in the US, but what I am against is the fact that they don't speak English, and don't pay Taxes. If you live in this country you should speak its language, and you should have to give most your money to the retarded clowns in Washington, just like everyone else.

It's not like it's a six foot wooden fence, at least not as I have understood it. If it's the one they were talking about, it would be actually two layers. People could get over one, but you would know they're there because of motion detection. And they could then be taken care of.How does that not stop people? And don't say, "Because life is so much better here!"Also, Mexico is not in South America.

Well if it's only 700 miles and costs 2+ billion dollars to make, it BETTER have some serious stuff on it.

what worries me is the fence is only 700 miles long, while the border is about 2,000 miles long.

Securing the border is so important and I'm glad we are finally taking steps to improve the situation.

1331, the point isn't that we're trying to stop all immigration so they can't get in and have a chance to make a better life, it's that we're trying to stop the illegality of it. We'll take them, just not illegally. I don't see what's hard to understand.

The illegality of immigration is an asinine argument, because the people doing the immigrating could care less about that. When the reward outweighs the risk, or the odds of being caught, people are going to continue to break the law. So talking about the legality of it won?t fix it. It just won?t work.Speeding is against the law, yet many continue to speed. The risk of getting caught is low and the risk is tolerable. Marijuana is illegal, yet many are blazing tonight. The risk of getting caught is low and the risk is tolerable. I could go on and on with examples. I save us the time and hope you see my point. Even a 2000 mile fence won?t work, people will find a way to get here. And a 700 mile fence on a 2000 mile border? I mean I know our president is a f*cking boob but fencing 35% of the border? Holy sh*t. Remember when Bush said if we had a withdrawal date from Iraq the terrorist would know they only had to outlast us by one day and they would win. Isn?t building a 700 mile fence kinda like telling the migrants that they only need to travel 701 miles? That makes absolutely no sense. If we want to use the law to stop illegal immigration, why not hammer the sh*t out of the people who hire these folks? They are the real criminals in the immigration battle. If our less fortunate neighbors to the south have no reason to come here, THEY?LL STOP COMING!!!!A fence won?t work.

A fence is only a step in the final solution to the problem. yes they will continue to come, but by making it harder it will alleaviate some of the problem. I do agree that the government needs to crack down on companies who hire illegals. I also think that illegal aliens should get no government assistance at all, and this country needs to make it illegal for them to hire aliens.

What should we do with the 12 million illegal?s already here? Deporting them isn't really feasible. Amnesty is the only real option.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (1331 @ Oct 28 2006, 08:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>What should we do with the 12 million illegal?s already here? Let them live in fear that they could be caught at any moment for breaking our law. Slowly that 12 million number will go down.

Leave the ones here, but do not give them amnesty. have something were they need to register for being undocumented, they are assigned a tax ID number, and than from there they can go about getting citizenship. the ones who fail to register are deported and barred from ever becoming US citizens. those who register by lie should have the same fate.

God, why do you people blame every single thing on Bush. Other people were behind the bill as well. You have no idea what the logistics of making this happen would be. Please stop acting like you have any experience working in the government, unless you actually do.And if he didn't sign it, everyone would be all, "Oh damn, Bush is such an idiot. Man, I hate that guy. He is such an idiot. If I were President, I wouldn't be such an idiot!" We get it already. He's an idiot. Now please shut the hell up already.
