Sleek Audio SA-6's (or SA-7's which are the new model). These are in-ear earphones (with exchangable silicone inserts, so your tiny delicate ears won't hurt) with a fantastic sound that's also customizable (treble and bass ports can be changed in and out). Pricey, but with removable cables and cheap replacement cables, they last forever. I've used my pair for 2 years now with no issues. Because they're in-ear, they cut out 30+db of external audio. You can listen to your music at half volume in the tunnel on the MAX, and not hear the train noise. Seriously worth the extra cash.

get these Pioneer HDJ 2000

I have the HDJ-1000 myself, for about 2 years now, they're great, but if you're willing to spend more money (around $300) then get the 2000 version which famous djs use.

I got the Beats. They're dope. Not a fan of noise canceling since it seems way too redundant with over-the-ear headphones.

The Beats have killer bass, crystal clear highs, but the mids lack a little bit of punch. I still love em though.

I think i'm going with customized-color beats

thanks for the input everyone

You will love 'em!

Agreed. The Beats headphones are bass-heavy, but they are not low-quality cans in the least. Those are some good headphones for the price, and play very favorably with modern music. I wouldn't listen to Miles Davis or Beethoven on them, but for anything recorded after 1980, they're fantastic.

I might not be a knowledgable as you when it comes to this stuff, but I have listened to Miles and Coltrane on them and it sounded amazing. They are made for hip hop and that is what I listen to half the time, but Rage Against the Machine and Al Green sound just as good.

Fuck you guys for introducing me to the Beats by Dre headphones.

I now have a major itch to go buy a pair, but I'm doing my best to wait until after Christmas.

Sincerely,
Me.

Listen to them everyday at work or while traveling! Best things on earth!!!

Make sure noise cancelling headphones don't make you nauseous. It's weird, but my Beats made me fill sick at work. The noise cancelling adjusts the frequency to cancel out the surrounding noise. At my work, that adjustment made me feel like I had motion sickness. I thought I blew $200 on a pair of headphones I could never use. But when I use them at home or when I take the dog for a jog, they're fine.

So in other words, you prefer Doggie Style?

What do you guys have? Studio or Solo? Are they really worth it?

how are the $200 Beats by Dre? Might get them for my bro for christmas.

They're really good for a branded headphone (the best cans are always some brand you've never heard of): huge bass without being mushy, still manages decent highs. Not an accurate sound by any means (for a cheaper, yet more accurate-sounding headphone, try the Grado-125's for about $150 or less online), but they thump like none other.

The Grados are all open air though, aren't they? I also like that they have a microphone input so I can make calls while walking on the beach and listening to shit.

Dunno. I'm thinking about a pair for myself. I tried out the Beats By Dre, they have a nice seal on them when I put them on. I usually use the little bud headphones, I have a few pairs of nice ones (the Apple in Ear monitors..the good ones, bang and olafson and some Shure e2cs I always lose the fucking rubber inserts on tem though although the B&Os don't ave those). They get annoying after a few hours in your ear though.
