That is the most disconcerting thing about Thorn's failure.

RJ went from being one of the hardest working, hardest playing, most intense competitors in the NBA to a slacking wiseass who cares more about his stat line than winning games.

That's inexcusable.

Then for Thorn to not even be able to use those stats to TRADE HIM AT HIS HIGHEST VALUE just leaves me slack-jawed.

Is Thorn accountable to anyone at all?

Through two decades of watching basketball, I am pretty confident in my understanding of the NBA game. I understand and acknowledge the problem with the Nets roster. Still, if you believe that a team with three max (or near max players), is over achieving playing .500 to sub .500 ball in a horrible conference, we REALLY disagree with the talent on the Nets roster.

Thorn is right up there with Frank in my book. His mismanagement of the Nets, coaches and players, has put the team in a horrible position. If it wasn't for the finals runs, he wouldn't still be here.

As for RJ, his game has simply mirrored that of the other two Nets stars over the past couple seasons.

This isn't about the generic construct of three players making X amount should equal such and such record. Rather, this is about the mixing of these three players and where they are in their career.

Maybe not the biggest mistake thorn has made but i damn sure would rather have Scott on that bench than Frank. Anyone that disagrees is either slow or lying.

And....no.
Again motivation is only an aspect of a coach. If it was the only aspect that determines a coach, then there would be no difference between Scott and Riley.

They call that the "Vince Carter effect."

Everyone on our team is either on their rookie contract or overpaid. Don't perceive the contracts of our players to be representative of their talent level.

If you really expected a Vince Carter team to OVERACHIEVE, then you must have anterograde amnesia, like the guy in Memento. Add on to that the fact that Kidd's knees have turned him into a terrible shooter and turnover machine mean that this team isn't really underachieving. They're just achieving.

Let's be fair. When he was one of the hardest-working win-now players in the NBA, he was still a wiseass. He's always been a wiseass. That's one of my favorite things about him.

I have no doubt that RJ's play is a product of his environment, and that his win-first persona would quickly be salvaged by a new locker room culture, either here or with another team.

Obviously you are talking about both Scott and Frank being in uniform on the bench. Because yeah, Scott is a much better basketball player than Frank.
