Off topic, but Portland: Caleb Porter resigned as Portland Timbers coach. Rumor is he is being considered as the next manager for the US National Men's team, but no official word as to why.

The man led the Timbers to the 2015 MLS Cup Championship and three playoff appearances in his 5 year coaching stint.

This is quite a shock to me. I get it if he's going to head the USMNT or a top level team in Europe. I didn't think he would be in line to take one of those positions yet though. I think he's a great coach. He can be an arrogant SOB, but I think that is part of what makes him successful. I will forever remember our title in 2015! RCTID!

Is it something Meyers could get hurt playing???

not sure who is late to the party.. you or the radio, but I heard on the way home yesterday that Caleb is stepping down from the Timbers in anticipation of coaching the USA team.

EDIT: Shit. Im not late ,I just dont know how to read. Thought you were saying he re-signed..lol

Maybe he'll join that new LA team. Y'all know that Tom Penn is a a part owner and President?

Interesting thought. The US soccer federation needs to elect or re-elect a president early next year so I'd be surprised if Caleb already has the job lined up.

I loved Porter. Really bummed to see him go.

I think he's going to take over the Cincinnati USL club in preparation for their move to MLS (though the move is not imminent). Full control of player personnel and coaching. That's the rumor I've read that makes the most sense. They have an incredible fan base for USL and a 40,000 seat stadium. I hope they make the jump. Would be a great addition to MLS.

I seriously doubt he's going to be the next USMNT coach.

I'm going to miss him.

Cincinnati? Fuck Cincinnati.

WEAKKKKKKK.......

Canzano is implying that Porter, Paulson, and Wilkinson just couldn't get along any longer. That seems like a reach to me, but I suppose it could be true.

It’s certainly possible that Porter and Wilkinson did not see eye to eye on player eval or acquisitions. Looks like Paulson sided with Wilk if that’s the case but still totally speculation

That would really piss me off if that’s what went down. Wilk signed Kris Boyd and Kenny Fucking Cooper for god’s sake!
