Maybe modest improvements, but the number of quick-twitch muscles a person possesses are hard-wired. https://www.outsideonline.com/1783586/it-possible-change-my-muscle-type

So let's say he somehow maximized the recruitment of his fast-twitch muscle fibers through training and improved his explosiveness by 10%, that's still not going to put him on Draymond's level.

That assumes he's close to hitting his quick-twitch muscle maximum.

I'd take a 10% improvement.

He remind me a lot like Charles Oakley type a player. Both can shoot outside and the both out there hustle there ass off.

Hmmmm... @dviss1 says you can improve foot speed and you say its genetics.

Who am I supposed to believe? :smiley-hmm:
Biggie has plenty of room to improve his foot speed. Genetics certainly have an effect on it, but I doubt he's anywhere near his limit. He lacks explosion and needs to continue to improve his body. Hitting squats and dead lifts hard would do wonders for him (improving those lifts show huge boosts in things like vertical and sprint speed). The guy's a twenty year old rookie, he has tons of room to improve physically.

Not to mention it's not Green's foot speed or explosiveness that make him such a good defender (he had a 33 inch vertical coming out of college, which is not particularly good), it's his anticipation. The guy knows what's going to happen before it happens. It's unreal. Biggie has shown that he might end up being a better defender than everyone thought because his awareness is decent, but Draymond is on a whole different level.

He had a decent game tonight. 15 min, 5 pts, 3 Assists, 8 rebounds, a block, +17 diff. What do you guys think his ultimate role will be on this team.... rotational player, starter, future star. I know it's fairly early, but what does everybody see in the crystal ball?

So, my stance has been and still is that...
Biggie is like Briant Grant, Collins is like Rasheed.

This version of Rasheed won't be playing SF for us to make room for Grant. This version will be starting at PF, and Grant will be first big coming off the bench.... as long as we have Nurkic.

Can foot speed be learned and improved upon or is that a born with it skill?

Like almost anything else, you can certainly improve it. That said, you can only improve it so much versus someone with more natural ability. Same with vertical leap. You can train, add strength, and improve somewhat...but if you aren't born with it, you're not reaching anything near Drexler/Jordon levels no matter how much you train.

I'm hoping he becomes something like a prime Paul Millsap on offense. Millsap was a little undersized and not the most explosive PF either.

If he buries the 3 often, he's going to be a special player.

I expect a double double from him, on average, a couple years from now. He might surprise and have a lot of assists, too.

Millsap was and still is a terrific defender though.

I’ve noticed some significant weight loss since the start of the season. I mentioned it when I watched him in the g league that he was dropping pounds but recently he physically looks like he did back in summer league. I still like the idea of him backing up Collins at the four once Zach inevitably starts. I know we love the Ed and Collins duo but imagine Ed and Biggie.

I don’t see Milsap, I see a rich mans DeJuan Blair or a poor mans Zach Randolph.

ughhh the spacing would be so terrible!

Edit: alright I forgot he has a long shot.

Why has he completely disappeared? It's not really expected from late first round picks to contribute much in their first season but he has barely played for the last several months.

Caleb transformed his game from one year to the next in college. I'm not going to be the one doubting him in the NBA.

I think he will find a way to be a very productive player by next season. We know he has a knack for rebounding and has a nice shooting touch, so now that he's slimmed down and put on some muscle maybe he will be a little quicker and actually be able to get off the ground.

He should back up Zach though. Nothing wrong with that.

He's just soooooooo slow. Not a ton of athleticism. That dude needs to become the next Sam Perkins. That's his best chance in the league.
