Politics California To Have Harsher Penalty For Pronoun Violations Than For Knowingly Spreading HIV

Please don’t include the rest of America in your remarks. That’s like including the rest of America in North Carolina’s stupid gender neutral bathroom debate. That’s NC stupidness, just as the topic of this thread is California’s stupidness. Those kinds of moronic thought processes are hereditary in those places. Just because both those states have their heads up their asses on those particular subject doesn’t mean the rest of us necessarily agree....
True, this type of behavior is only common on the coasts it seems, the bigger cities, etc.

This does bring up the one that actually bothers me..... they.

Calling a single person they hurts my little brain.

So here is what the bill is about, more than pronouns.

B 219 strengthens protections for LGBTQ seniors living in long-term care facilities against discrimination, such as refusing to use a resident’s preferred name or pronoun, denying admission to a long-term care facility, transferring a resident within a facility or to another facility based on anti-LGBT attitudes of other residents, or evicting or involuntarily discharging a resident from a facility on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or HIV status., denying admission to a long-term care facility, transferring a resident within a facility or to another facility based on anti-LGBT attitudes of other residents, or evicting or involuntarily discharging a resident from a facility on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or HIV status.

I knew I’d regret reading this thread.

I hate it when clueless people do stupid shit that only serves to delegitimize me and my daily existence among people who are looking for any excuse at all to insult and disregard me and people like me. This thread was, unfortunately, exactly what I expected it to be.

“You didn’t have to read it” fuck you I did... it’s about me, it’s literally in my wheelhouse. It’s shot I gotta know about to prepare for fresh arguments from people who don’t like me because of what I am. So yes I had to read this hell thread eventually.

I knew this thread would be cringe gold as soon as I saw that clickbait headline.

Who doesn't like you for who you are?

Until sly's post two posts up none of us knew anything about this law other than the pronoun bullshit. I don't agree with any law that makes a person say anything. The other stuff in the law seems great. They shouldn't be discriminated against or moved around or denied entry to a facility. Good changes. Sending someone to jail for refusing to call a person zhe or something similar is ridiculous.

Knowingly giving someone HIV should be punishable at the judge's discretion up to life in prison.

It may not be a death sentence now but it is still a major life altering event.

You get used to it.
People get used to all kinds of things.

I'm sure a homeless guy who's been on the streets for years is used to it.

The weird new words like zhe or whatever I'd even make an effort to get used to.

They...nope.

This is the most S2 thing anyone has ever said

I don’t disagree with any of this... but what this stupid jail time punishment clause did was turn the conversation into “hahaha there’s a million genders we should call them all it”, not just here but everywhere. It fucking annoys me that even the “good” progress is often barnacled with misguided overreactions that make trans people look like fools, because some folks are looking for reasons to.

I’d put it up there with aggravated assault with a weapon. Maybe not life in prison but more than six months!

I try to read more about stuff I comment on but don't always. I do remember asking some questions but nobody knew or at least didn't answer.

Plus when California is involved I usually just assume the worst.

It wasn’t my family; they are cool with me... these were strangers at a coffee shop.
You know that's going to happen don't you?

Probably over and over and over.

People say and do mean shit like that all the time.

I do. I don't even always mean to.

Okay then, if I can get used to having people pray frantically when I enter a room, you can get used to using "they" to refer to a single person. :ghoti:

Also this family does do this over and over; I've seen it three times now. Next time I'm going to rub my tiddies at them.

I'd tell them to fuck off. Don't think I wouldn't

Which is why I won't have to get used to anything. People choosing they as their pronoun need to pick another one.

And I’ve said this before: how much of an asshole do you have to be to get an honest request from someone, that takes an extra 0.3 seconds to do, that makes them feel better if you do, and feel worse if you don’t... and then say “no.”

I'll be the line in the sand. Define how much of a prick as much as you can. That's how much.

I've said I'd do it in most cases. They ain't happening.

I have a hard enough time calling a guy at work Austin. His name was Doug, he got disowned and changed his whole family's names. First and last.

He's still Doug

It's a point of pride for a lot of people. Sorry that we live in the worst timeline.

Your line in the sand is “very slightly inconvenienced”?
