From Rotoworld:

Big Trade, Part 2

The Clippers traded Marcus Camby to the Trail Blazers for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. Camby automatically becomes the starting center the Blazers were dying to get their hands on, while DeAndre Jordan and Craig Smith are now worth a look with the Clippers. We expect Smith to start at PF for LAC, and this trade was literally announced just seconds before we were ready to post this column. Early reaction is that the Blazers committed highway robbery, but remember the Clips had Camby handed to them on a platter last year. In addtion, Jerryd Bayless should see a boost in playing time if Blake is gone.

I didn't edit it completely. I'll leave it so your posts make sense. I counted 15 players, so I thought it was fine, but we should have 14 players now.

What a nice rookie you are. Very considerate of others.

What's amazing is Camby averages 3.3 Field Goals per game and 3.0 assists per game. He's assisting on as many baskets as he's scoring per game. Talk about unselfish!

ESPN's Rumor mill has been updated
"Blazers get camby" Two-for-one trade between Clippers and Blazers
Hope that means its official now.

That's why I quoted it...I knew you'd try and change it to make me look like a fool...but I was too smart for you!!! How do you like them apples Mr Sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I was just giving a tiny little bit of good-natured shiite...I knew what you meant.

FYI, Camby turns 36 in five weeks.

But, he's playing like he's 29, so it doesn't matter as we only need him for 25+ games and the playoffs. What's good is he just had a rest since he didn't play in the All-Star game, and if he doesn't play on Tuesday because of the "status" issues, he'll have an additional 3 days of rest. He could use it as he's been healthy all season and has played in 51 games, and more minutes than even Brandon Roy. His 1596 minutes are only 72 minutes less than Andre Miller and are 150 more than Martell Webster.

Guess we know now who was on KP's "do not trade list", and who was on the "we know what we've got in these guys" list.

I love the trade. I've always liked Camby's game and his unorthodox jumper. He can rebound with the best of them and is always a pest in the paint. Roy had one of his worst games as a Blazer this year against the Clippers because Camby and Kaman were patrolling the paint effectively.

Sad to see Outlaw go, but depending on how things go, we can always resign Travis. Especially if management feels that Martell isn't the answer, which is a likely possibility.

If this trade is completed, I give all the credit to Juwan Howard. He proved to Pritchard that old guys can really play!!

ESPN is now reporting that the trade is not finalized and that another team could make a better offer and thus steal Camby.

ive never seen a team have so much trouble closing deals. its unreal. here comes another nightmare for blazer fans

now they are saying both teams want to involve a 3rd team so the clips get more value

In addition to the obvious rebounding and interior defense, this is another reason Camby makes sense. He won't demand a lot of touches and take shots away from Roy, Aldridge, Miller, etc. He should be much easier to integrate into our offense than a center who is more focused on his own scoring.

I can hear Nate now, "Marcus, I don't want you to worry about scoring, just rebound and play defense".

He should fit right in with Nate's game plan.

Link?

The in the video at this link (updated at 10:10am EST), Ric Bucher , when asked if "this then more likely than not gets done" says, "I think this does happen, because it just makes too much sense".

I'm surprised J.A. Adande even knew there was another basketball team in Los Angeles. All those years working for the LAT and all he wrote about were the L*kers.

and for the following reason:

If I remember correctly Memphis has long been interested in Outlaw, if correct then if the Clips/Blazer deal goes thru I would try to swing Outlaw to Mem for a pick. Also it would save Clips more $$$ this yr which Sterling would likely approve of as Mem has capspace. In addition Blake might be valuable to a team like Orlando or Miami, Clips could easily squeeze more out of this deal IMO

I am starting to like this deal more and more. Blake and Outlaw probably resign elsewhere after this season, so at least we get a guy this season who will really help us (much more than Blake/Outlaw) and we get to evaluate him and see if he would be a good fit for next season. This deal also helps define the roles of guys like Rudy and Bayless.

This deal also frees up a roster spot on the team. I wonder if KP will fill it with someone.

More info from ESPN Insider

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher reports the Los Angeles Clippers are close to trading Marcus Camby to Portland for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake.

With Brendan Haywood being traded to the Mavericks, the Trail Blazers were left with a smaller pool of big men to fill in for the injured Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla.

Outlaw said his agent, Bill Duffy, informed him the deal should be completed on Tuesday.

"He said it is still being finished, but that it should go through," Outlaw told The Oregonian.

"I'm cool with it," Outlaw said of the trade. "It doesn't bother me. This is a business. I'll just go somewhere else and play. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the opportunity Portland gave me, but I also know it"s a business."

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweets the Clips choose this deal because of money: "Portland is throwing $3 million into Camby package, league source says. That's why Clips chose this deal -- not anything else."

Well, duh. It's the Clips and Donald Sterling's still the owner.
