Here in the OT, we mostly know where we all stand politically. My left leaning and dislike of Trump is no secret. So I get that I don't get some things about Trump.

Please help me understand this:

Doesn't all of the stuff you hear about him and his administration bother you? Are you simply willing to overlook these things just so a conservative agenda can be enacted? Specifically I am asking about

Russia: Just yesterday the head of the NSA says he has not been told to try to shutdown future Russian hacking. And the sanctions passed by Congress have not been enacted by the President. And his National Security Advisor has plead guilty to a felony. Etc. His pandering to Russian interests is so obvious to me. Not you?

Security: You were the ones crying about the lack of security of Hillary's emails. Does it not bother you that Trump's staff cannot pass background checks?

Infidelity: Two affairs - one with a porn star and one with a Playboy Bunny - in just the past few years.

To quote the King of Siam: "Etc., etc., etc."

How do you ignore all that? Not looking for a fight - I really don't get it.

I have a lot of the same questions. They seem to have been asked a lot this last yeat in different threads, but it merely opens a pandoras box of excuses like Hillary did this, Obama did this rather than a civil discourse on the matter. There has been no clear answers. It seems most conservatives either don't believe some of the stuff i.e. fake news, or they don't care (At least Trump didn't rape them like Clinton, etc)
Just because somebody else did something just as bad or worse, it doesn't condone or make right similar behavior.

I'm probably not the person to answer, because I didn't vote for him. But I'll reply anyway.

Russia: Honestly, I never cared. I think it's stupid that we worry so much about "foreign meddling" in our elections. Unless their hackers are literally changing votes, I don't care if Russians try to influence people. If he enacts policies that are harmful to America in favor of Russia, that's much more an issue to me.

Security: I don't care about background checks so much as whether or not the information that is supposed to be secure/classified remains so. If people in the Trump administration are making sensitive information available to people who shouldn't have it, that's a problem

Infidelity: I think it's deplorable. I think it speaks volumes about a person's character. I think most people had a pretty low opinion of Trump's character prior to the campaign (I know I certainly did), so the infidelity stories haven't changed my opinion of him.

I’m not a republican, and only conservative on fiscal issues.

Russia. You set the bar low here. It was TRUE conservatives, like Reagan, who pumped up the call for defense spending using the Russians and Cold War as bogeymen. Now it’s you using Russia as the bogeyman. And I’m sure you don’t like Reagan, no matter how much your views are now aligned. I don’t know how you guys don’t see the parallels between yourselves and McCarthy (secret papers! Government run by Russians!)

Security. You made a mountain out of a molehill. We hack. The NSA’s hacking tools were hacked and put on the WWW for chrissake. Your outrage comes across as disingenuous because you have no outrage over our own interferences in foreign elections. Plus, the mountain ($100K worth of facebook ads shown mostly AFTER the election vs. $billions spent by the candidates) out of molehills.

Infidelity. Of all people. You set the bar low, again. Clinton wasn’t called slick willie for nothing. And like you defended him against all actual legitimate claims of rape and assault by women, you again lose credibility here.

We’re living by the standards YOU set.

I do think you are conflating two issues when it comes to Russia. Of course they tried to interfere with our election. That's what governments do. But I am not talking about that. What I am talking about is - why does Trump seem to be in their pocket and doesn't that bother you? Even if there was no "collusion", nonetheless, either due to blackmail or more likely, finances, he seems strangely on their side. No?

Want an honest answer from someone who is partisan?

I lean liberal republican, but I dont let it dictate my party. I vote individual for who I feel is best at the time of voting and dont pair the party line.

With that said, Every administration has the other side gunning for them to take them down. This means that lots of fluff stories come out trying to defame the sitting president. Whether it be Bush, Obama, Trump, etc.

What you are hearing about Trump is not that much different than what I heard about Hilary and what I heard about Bush and what I heard about Carter, etc.

I take most of it with a grain of salt because most of it is a Hollywood drama fest. I focus on numbers not hearsay drama.

Currently the numbers show Trump is doing great on the domestic economy, but my fear is the global economy will suffer and further segregate America form the rest of the world.

I get make America great again, but we also need to compromise with the rest of the world we left behind by stomping on them for the last few hundred years.


Again....Shove the drama aside and focus on the important numbers like tariffs and taxes, etc. These are the direct impacting decision making he has power of that will actually affect you and I. The rest of it is for the news to argue about cause it doesnt affect me.

Well, at least your question is the most genuine. I look at like this, the guy is not a politician, he did not know his way around WA is as much as how dirty the game truly is. He picks guys that he reprieved would be able to get the job done. After learning the game, he has made changes. Lets face it, he gets zero support from the left and not much from the right and is in open conflict with the never Trump establishment like McCain. Add to that the fact that he has also been embattled with obummers hold overs.

So long story short, he has had a pretty steep learning curve, and not a lot of help. Now that he is getting the hang, I do expect more stability.

I'm sorry, but when Foreign adversaries create Facebook pages and encourage people to have rallys for or against our candidates; when you have a "leader" who encourages said adversary to hack into Clinton's emails to get dirt; then said adversary (wikileaks is RUSSIAN) proceeds to release those emails THE DAY AFTER the Access Hollywood tape was released, we have a problem...
