Can the nets compete next season

Do any of you guys think the nets can compete next season. with all the stuff that will be going on in the off season. Expansion Draft, Kmart and Kittle resigning, revamping the bench. After reconsideration i think they should keep the key players and and just revamp the shooting guard position and get a decent center. Keep jason collins (could be a solid back up), Aaron williams (quite a solid back up). Back up point guard is really need and with a center. But I think they need to build on creating a half court offense when when kidd is gone thats why im suprised they didnt try to pick Darrel Armstrong when orlando dropped him he would have been a great backup. They need to run a 3 man center rotation like how the old bulls did it with jordan and that kind of worked to stop shaq and hakeem. It would be nice if they could get Quentin richardson as a starter and ron mercer as a backup.

we surely can compete next year. we can compete as long as we have kidd/rj/kmart healthy. this franchise has smelled and feeled success and i would be suprised if they let us go back into the nba doghouse. kittles is a nice player, maybe even an ok bench player, but he isn't cutting it for us anymore. the sg position has evolved and kk hasnt evolved. if he can work witha shooting coach or someone to get his jumper consistantly, then we would obviously keep him. there have been too many times where kerry gets a wideopen 3pter or jumper and have missed it. that position is supposed have a player who is a scorer. kerry is basically a shooter who is inconsistant. his knee injuries have obviously effected him and has effected our team. players now-a-days usually dont stay on the team they were drafted on unless they are a franchise player like kg. so if this isnt the last stand for kerry, then after next year when his contract is up he will most likely be hitting the road. that is why i think it is key for us to trade him this year, yeah his contract is big for him but he is still worth something. he has been apart of a championship team and has had tv exposure to all nba teams who have watched the playoffs and he does have something to give a team. you know there will be a team that wants to clear up cap room the following season so that team i would target if im rod thorn to ship kk off too, you might not get a bigname player or even a proven player, but maybe a young/quick player who has potential.

should be an interesting offseason. rod has said in interviews that we will be making changes. its going to be interesting how he makes those changes. who gets traded,who is staying and who is added through FA.

Its all about our core guys coming back & having a healthy season. And hopefully the team wont have many major injuries or the drama we went thru this season(B.Scott situation/new ownership etc). All those things contributed to some of our losing streaks this year. And it hurt us in the end because we were unable to get home court advantage in the playoffs against a good team like detroit. And I think we needed the home court advantage this season(even tho it didnt matter last playoff year vs them), due to the fact that we had our best player suffering from injury. And having home court advantage may have boost the game of some of our role players to make up for what J.Kidd was lacking.

So next year I think we need to get back to having a productive regular season, like in 2001-2002, so we can have homecourt longer in the playoffs because certain teams like Detroit, Pacers etc have caught up to us talent wise, so home court will now always become a bigger factor come playoff time.

Also I think we cant over step the importance of adding a legitimate backup for kidd, so he wont be worn down come playoff time next year.

the backup pg is a good point hen. if we decide that zoran is our answer and just needs time to develop, you can see his potential, then we have to show 100% confidence in him from game 1 of the regular season all the way to game 82 and throughout the playoffs. we need to give him time to grow during a season. he sat most of his rookie year and learned the system in practice and on paper. now its time for him to apply what he has been taught so we can see if he is the answer for the backup pg spot. i hope he is for two reasons: 1) he has potential and has size where if he can get his shot down he can post up other pg's and he can rebound. 2) we dont need to keep him and get a backup pg. we can't afford to have another wasted body taking up a roster spot, we have enough of those.
