Canes vs Rangers game 1

Going to be really tough to come back from this L...really tough. The Canes are the better team and favored, and when you blow opportunities like this it is really tough to win that series. We'll see how it goes, but odds are that loss will be the one that really ends the series.

To me makes game 2 just about a must win. Hard to see us winning 4 of 5 against this team. Shame, and bumbling idiots in our own zone on that winning goal. Missed 32 chances to clear, and then a perfect tip by Lindgren. Shame...

It wasn’t a soft goal you dumb fuck Lindgren deflectef it in his own net

We do need a coach that will make adjustments. We got TOTALLY out coached the entire third period.

You guys really are crazy sometimes. Soft goal? Lindgren with a perfect deflection by Igor - how is that soft. And I have been critical of the coach recently also, but what did he do tonight? Team dominated for two periods, and I know this is hard to understand, but two teams play in these games, and the Canes controlled the 3rd. If we could finish any chances we win. We didn't and it cost us.

I think in a series like this against this team it will be difficult to overcome this one. Such a huge game IMO to setup the series. We would have been in a great no pressure spot for at least the next two games, now we go to a must spot in game 2, and the Canes are due to be better than they were in tonight's game for 2 periods.

What could our coach do???? Seriously??? Call a fucking time out for one. ice was tilted big time. You call a timeout and calm everyone down. We started breaking down with about 2 minutes left in the second. Canes made adjustments. Changed up lines. We did the exact same thing and when it stopped working we didn’t adjust. Not even a little bit.

Not getting a 2nd goal somewhere along the line on Raanta is a poor job.

You're not going to win many games 1-0. I knew the missed chances would kill them.

I don't think it's about giving up or not. I think it's about being real. This is a very bad loss. A loss that is going to be difficult to come back from against a better team. They were pretty much handing us this game for 2 periods, and we couldn't take advantage. If we just lost that would be different, but how we lost adds to it and makes it difficult to come back from. The Canes will play better in game 2, I have no doubt there. Plus we had a little swagger after 3 straight W's. That is all gone now.

And for the record Al, just blindly saying the Rangers will win the Rangers will win doesn't make you a better or worse fan. I try to be objective, and you play with fire down 3-1 and low chances you come back. They did, but not a place you want to be. Then losing like this is very tough to come back from. They can if they win game 2, and maybe they will, but now I think they have to. Could have played with some house money for a couple of games if they win tonight.

This is a very young team that's going to go through what young teams do.

It’s not the coach. Zibanejaf and Panarin were atrocious again
And the coach didn’t deplete any ice time for them. Kept putting Z out there for crucial faceoffs despite the fact he couldn’t win one to save his life. That is bad coaching any way you slice it.

The kid line played every 2 shifts it seemed. You are reaching really far when you want to put this one on the coach. We pretty much dominated a better team in their building for 2 periods. They came out fired up in the 3rd and took it to us. Not unexpected. We finish any of the many chances we had we win. That is not on the coach.

You telling me this game was worse than losing game 1 at home, with a 2 nothing lead..ok what ever...too many times you kept on song last series this and that...this team has not shown that they couldn't come back after being knocked down..not once...so saying losing off a shitty deflected goal is going to knock this team out...makes you a quitter

Oh well, we'll see what kind of resiliency they have again.

Absolutely worse than game 1 Pens IMO. We were favored in that series, we had home ice in that series, we were the better team coming into that series, the Pens had a ton of injuries, on and on.

This one is way worse against a much better team. This was our chance, with MO from 3 straight wins, to take one there and maybe set the tone for the series, and we blew it late.

Win game 2 and we'll be okay. Lose game 2 and we are not coming back against this team. That simple to me. Nothing done tonight, now we just need to win game 2.

Missed chances and trying like hell to hang on to win 1-0 spelled doom. There's not much more to say then that.

In hockey when you go down 2 games you are really playing with fire I think. We needed 1 in Carolina. Tonight was a golden chance. Can we do it again in game 2, and this time hold on. We'll see.

We can play with this team as they proved tonight. Just have to convert some of the great scoring chances we had throughout the game. Panerin needs to get his head out of his ass and stop turning the puck over in the defensive zone with his dopey blind passes. Defensively, I thought this was one of our best games but you have to put the puck in the net also! Keep the faith. We’re not in trouble until we lose a game at home.

Agree with everything you wrote mel except the last line. I don't buy that in hockey. I am much more about you aren't in trouble until you fall behind by 2 games. Look at NHL series, a very high % are tied 1-1 just for that reason IMO. The team down 1-0 knows going down 2-0 is so difficult to come back from.

They can't make Raanta look like Patrick Roy.
