Canzano: Here's hoping Portland gets the Oden move right the 2nd time.

It is humorous to me how many people take Canzanos conjecture as the truth regarding Greg Oden's feelings about being here, staying here or ever playing here again. I know you are being funny, but you should hear the yahoos on the radio (and obviously the ones who post here acting like they know he doesn't want to be here because he's not going around jacking off the city of Portland).

If he didn't want to be here next year, he wouldn't be here this year. Simple as that. Dude could easily hire someone who could help him, and be wherever the hell he wants.

Another article were canzano makes shit up in order to stir the pot because no real blazer newd is carrying around much drama. Guys like canzano who stir up hate for players are a big reason players asked to be traded from playoff teams. So I would just like to say one thing to that baled bastard "shut the fuck up and stop wrighting opinion pieces that have no real facts"

I think this argument that people make, similar to the one that "that's why players want to leave Portland", have little grounds in reality.

I really doubt players really are concerned for the minority of us fans who are on websites, or spend countless hours bickering back and fort about untrue rumors. And I really doubt they care much about the media as much as the media wants us to believe. If anything, they're just tired of the idiots who work for the newspaper, because every team has their fare share of idiot pot-stirrers who work for the local fish rag or radio station.

Every team.

A very short conversation with Oden = big old article saying Canzano didn't ask him this, he conjectures Oden thinks that, he speculates Oden will do this, Oden's contract options that...

Edit: I just re-read it and the conversation was many weeks ago. Today, Canzano just saw Oden exercising a long time (to avoid Canzano) and never even talked to him. This generated the big old article about nothing new. Here is the whole article, if you subtract contract speculation and what Camby thinks.

Oden told me a few weeks ago in the Blazers locker room that he's trying to lose weight. He wants to play around 270 pounds, not near 300. In that, it looks like Oden understands that what he tried before wasn't working for him. I worried after this latest surgery that Oden might never recover mentally. And I worried when I told him recently that I was having another knee surgery myself -- torn meniscus -- and Oden looked at me and said, "You'll probably beat me back."

I watched Oden work out for 75 minutes on Thursday. When I left he was still going, moving from abdominal workouts with a medicine ball to upright rowing. I didn't interrupt Oden's workout, and call him over to ask him if he likes Portland. Does he want to be here long term? I didn't bother, mostly because it's irrelevant right now. Also, because Oden looked determined to blow my deadline, performing a marathon workout.

What's wrong with thinking that Oden may want a fresh start someplace else? The guy has had 5 semi-miserable years in Portland, through no fault of Portland, or of his own. I don't take this view from anything that Canzano writes; it's solely my opinion, and even then I'm only presenting an option for Oden. Sometimes, a change of scenery is part of a fresh start.

I'll also give the people who defend Oden as they would defend an awkward son the template of blame for if Oden does leave after accepting the Q.O. for a year.

It will be Canzano's fault for suggesting he doesn't like Portland, and it will be the fault of fans like me who think he may desire a new location.

I have no idea whether Greg wants to be in Portland or not, but the basic idea that the Blazers need to sign him to a 3 year contract is something I fully support.

Nothing is wrong, but it seems people are passing off their personal belief (or fear) as truth.

Greg Oden, so selfish a lout.
Hates basketball and Portland, no doubt.
Works out hard many hours, he does.
Determined to blow Canzano's deadline, he was.

Did you see today's Canzano article? He writes that 2 years ago, he watched Roy work out, so Roy must want to leave Portland and play in a big media city. Most of the article is about whether Roy's contract allows it, and old quotes from what Camby thinks about Roy. To make the article seem current, Canzano inserted a paragraph at the end about how Roy ignored him today while lifting weights.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Oden never wears a Blazer uniform again. That's purely an opinion. The problem here, is that Canzano is implying some insight or inside information. I seriously doubt he knows more about the matter than any of us.....he is just trying to act important.

I'll add that I want Greg to remain a Blazers for his entire career. I'm just not convinced that it is in his best interests, which is where my scenario comes into play.

Ugg...I'm sure there are some feelings on Oden's part. A fresh start and getting healthy probably sound great. I don't doubt that.

But the most interesting part is that without any sources, JC writes the article he wants to write without any basis to support his guesswork. Then he runs to try and get a quote from Oden that he can twist into support for his position, can't get it, and STILL goes with the article...nice work. Why bother even trying to have ANY basis and support for your article...way easier to make stuff up and not even bother with the pesky sources and interviews.

I don't understand what Canzano did or said wrong in the article?

He has a complete lack of sources, that would be the problem. He couldn't find a single source of information to support his guesswork but still ran with the article...it's just dumb.

They pay him by the word, not by the thought.

A source for what guesswork? He said he thinks the Blazers should keep Oden, but not build around him. He doesn't know if Oden wants to be here. I know people just don't like Canzano, so any time he writes anything, people just rabble rabble rabble. But what the fuck did he say in here that needed sources, etc.?
Or that people are running with this article as if the main premise, and the entire article was centered around Oden does not want to be in portland. It's not. But, people will grab out of it what they want, i suppose.

Didn't you admit a couple of weeks ago that you are Canzano? I should have saved the post.

Nope, I know I've never claimed to be but for some reason you think I am, lol.

(read post number 8.)

Yes, I saw that 2 minutes after posting, but to change it would have inserted the line about editing, so I didn't.

However, as in all investigations, your Freudian slip transfers suspicion to you. Surely you surmised that I meant it is RR7 who is Canzano, and yet your guilt propelled you to defend yourself? Just in case I meant you? Perhaps you would be so kind as to answer whether you get nauseous when you switch one of your multiple personalities? Does your nausea arise from guilt that you might be Canzano? Do you dream about this much? How long have you covered this up? If I write the confession, do you know how to sign your name or do you need my partner as a witness that you wrote it?

Who cares about the sports writer? His point is valid. Keep Oden!
