Does Canzano think that's an easy job? How about we just enjoy the memories, the legend and the myth, and not taint our fondest memories of a great announcer. K?

I agree, I don't want anything to taint my memories of Shonz. "Rippppp City baby"Does Canzano think that's an easy job? How about we just enjoy the memories, the legend and the myth, and not taint our fondest memories of a great announcer. K?

Canzano is just talking about preseaon.
There isn't another Blazers employee, currently on the payroll, who owns a 1977 NBA Championship ring. The organization trots out Schonely like a show pony at events and on game days, but the real glue is his voice.
Let him use it.
Think on it, Wheeler and Harvey remain broadcasters during the regular season. But what of making Schonely the second-half play-by-play voice for the remainder of a line of otherwise meaningless and uninteresting broadcasts of home preseason games? If it makes the organization feel better, put Wheeler and Schonely together on the mic, but if I know Wheeler the way I think do, he'd probably defer to his predecessor.
Put Schonely in for the rest of preseason and see how it goes. Why not?
He's almost 100?
I think he's more than happy with his current role.
Wheels is one if the best. I think Canzano is rrrrreally bored.
It's fun to hear him call a quarter or two during the preseason, but there's a reason why he retired. His memory isn't what it used to be. Still, it's so much fun to hear him on the radio.
Heritage Night was last night. It's an event for 20yr+ season ticket holders. I've gone a few times. Normally it's a very nice event, free dinner, open bar, free t-shirts and some of the players make an appearance to sign the t-shirts. It's a way of saying thanks to the long time season ticket holders.
I heard back from a couple of different people, this year was way different. No dinner, hors d'oeuvres, t-shirts, players, everyone was given a drink ticket. Additional drinks could be purchased for $9.50 a beer/drink. Schonz was there doing his best to try and talk to everyone but it was a bit much for him. Strange, the Blazers went cheap on their best customers.
If Hubbie Brown can still do it then why not Bill Schonely.
If some people are capable of rational thought why isn't everyone? If Hubbie Brown can still do it then why not Bill Schonely.
Perfection. If some people are capable of rational thought why isn't everyone?
