If Paul Allen is willing to do it, then get it done. This tells me that they're willing to go even higher for Greg, anyhow.

Repped for the Canzano leak...

I'll add that the article confirmed what I've been posting for a long time: that Oden actually holds the cards on whether or not to accept the Q.O., which will make him a lot of money regardless of what his decision ends up to be.

If it were any other writer I wouldn't care, but he needs to source that shit.

If he didn't just drop his pants and reach around back to get that figure, I think it's a risk worth taking.

I think that might be a steal, but big enough for Greg and Big Conley to sign it. :fingerscrossed:

It doesn't really matter if it's even true. Oden holds the cards on the Q.O., not the Blazers. Somebody is going to pay him, and a ~$9 million season next year before hitting the open market seems like a nice consolation prize.

4 years 40 mil???

thats insane!!!!!

what happens if there is a hard cap?

You want to strap ~45 mil into roy, lma, oden and matthews?

holy shit...the guy has barely played.... NOW if there arent guarenteed contracts in the next CBA, im all for it

Well, if there's a hard cap, then most likely it doesn't happen. I don't think there's any chance there's a hard cap.

Something tells me that Oden wants to start out on a clean slate. Different team. Put the past behind him. I dunno, just a hunch. I hope he comes back.

I love how fans speak for Greg, and what he wants.

Anyways, if it's a true offer, I don't care one way or the other. I just hope there are clauses galore in it (both for Gregs benefit, and the teams benefit. I.E., if you play 70% of your games in year one, 2 million bonus. in year 2? 3 million bonus, etc).

I'd rather 'waste' 40 million on Greg, then have a rotating 5 spot (ironically because of Greg).

You might be right. I kinda feel like he feels he owes us.

I hope the Blazers do this and that they do it NOW! Don't risk a new CBA impairing their ability to sign him later!

The only thing worse than Oden being an injury plagued player for the Blazers is Oden being a star for someone else.

Ugh.

I don't live in PDX, and I don't read the O. But from what I've read around here, I've just got to ask.

Has JC ever been right about anything like this?

Go Blazers

He was right about wallace, and he does have a connection with a lot of agents

He doesn't owe me anything. I really wish he'd play for Portland, for a long and prosperous career, but outside of that I hope he does whats best for himself health wise.

And hopefully, that involves him kicking the shit out of the rest of the league while playing for the Blazers. ;)

If I owned the Blazers and had Paul Allen's money, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. It's worth the risk.

I see people crying about getting rid of Roy's contract, and then I see some of the same people advocating an Oden contract that starts at 4/$40 million, before negotiations even begin.

Oden at least has his menisci. :ghoti:

Both are facts. Neither have a bearing on the other. Oden actually has a chance to be better tomorrow than he is today. Roy, not so much.

And yes, a franchise center locked up at 10M per year is a steal in this league.

If they give Oden a deal like that, they might as well just fold the feckin' franchise. It would be worse than taking the money and setting it on fire. Shaq is going to be a more productive NBA player over the next 4 years than Oden.

Ugh.

My thoughts exactly. I do not think I could survive him becoming a star elsewhere.

This is incorrect. Greg Oden becoming a productive, marketable player for another team would be 10 times more crushing to Blazer fans and the franchise than paying him Paul Allen's couch change for 4 more years.

is it that time of month?

I'm pretty sure everyone in their right mind would take that risk on Oden...

agreed, I would rather have an injured Oden, then some other team having a healthy Oden.

I'm sorry, but I really don't think some of you grasp the implications of a hard cap.
