And like I said, McIlrath would be playing if I was the coach. And Glass would not be playing if I was the coach. BUT the D has played well recently. And we are in 2nd place. And most importantly I am not going to whine and cry about it GAME AFTER GAME.
 
Who cares. If they lost 3-0 the bitching would be the same. It doesn't matter what this team does. Even the last couple of wins it was the same bitching and moaning. Yes, they have issues. They did their best to try and go for the cup and it didn't work out and this is where they stand. You people want a snap of the fingers and the entire team will be transformed. It doesn't work that way.
 
Maybe these last few games and a trade of some kind can get them trending upward again but there are some glaring issues on both O and D which may limit their ceiling. I would deal a 1st/Hayes and prospect for the best forward i could now. Mcilrath should not be off limits either despite what many in here think he is.
 
If I said we get to OT and lose when we start the 3rd would you have taken that mel...yeah exactly.

The loss at TB before T-Giving was way worse and it isn't close. Same with the loss at Edmonton. I can go on and on if you'd like.

This was down 2-0 into the 3rd against the best team in the NHL...and we came back and made OT and got a point at least. Far from the worst loss of the season.
 
Jesus 71. Enough with trading the fucking 1st round picks. They need to be getting first round picks.
 
Here is the bottom line. There is a TON of hockey left to play. There is NO REASON we still cannot make a long playoff run...we can for sure. We are in a good spot. I said ALL SUMMER this team was not having the regular season we did last year or the prior year, and guess what...we aren't.

Is what it is. We are in 2nd place. Smart money says we finish 2nd or 3rd in the Met. The D will continue to improve IMO. We need to add a player upfront and go from there.

Everything we want is in front of us. Maybe we can do it and maybe we cannot, but I know I am not writing us off as we sit in 2nd place with 40 games left to play.
 
Thing is you guys think these players are perfect robots...they are not. Yeah they make mistakes.

We have also played a TON of hockey the past couple of seasons...it wears on you.

The Kings missed the playoffs after they won a cup. The Kings finished 8th one season. The Hawks finished 3rd in the Central last season. NO we have not won cups like they have, but we have played A TON of games the past few seasons like they have.

Like it or not this season was going to be a huge struggle and I knew it would be. Just get in...2nd or 3rd in the Met...and go from there. Once we get in anything can happen, and I would feel good betting on us to at least make some noise in the playoffs.

And we will improve as the season moves on I believe. As the games get bigger I think we'll round into form. We won't be great, but good enough to be 2nd or 3rd in the Met and away we go.

I do think we need to upgrade at forward, but outside of that I believe we will be ready come playoff time as a lower seed that can be dangerous.
 
After the last four seasons with this team, just make it in and get hot. I just hope they don't verse the capitals because I cannot see them beating the caps 4 out of 5 years

With the division playoff setup I think we'll see the Caps in the 2nd round. Us and the Isles in round 1 as the 2/3 in the Met...winner plays the Caps.

I can see that happening for sure.
 
They're obviously not perfect but lets see what happens before we decide to burn everyone at the stake.

Chuck, down 2-0 yes I would take OT. Up 3-2 with 5 seconds left OT sucks. Don't quite know what your not getting with that explanation. Imo from what it could have been (a big win over the current best team) feels like a loss only getting 1 point out of this how the game transpired. And watching the players slink off the ice they felt the same way.

Big to win the Boston game home on Monday night. Then we have 3 tough road games (at NYI, at Philly, at Wash). Then 4 or 5 games I think we can win.
 
I dont know how you can sit there and take this loss as a positive. This team has had so many retarded losses the past two months. Unless there are some drastic changes to this roster and this coach stops being a moron, I just cant see them doing anything this season.

I don't know if anyone is taking it as a positive. Is what it is. At least we fought back and got a point out of a game we were trailing 2-0 into the 3rd against the best team in the NHL. Terrible gut punch to allow the tying goal with 5 seconds left, but what can you do.

Now I will disagree with your last comment. Unlike some of you guys in here, I won't write the season off with 40 games left, especially when we are in 2nd place (which BTW is the best part of this as you guys all continue to act as if the sky is falling...LOL).

I do think we need a clear forward upgrade to have a true shot at a cup, but I also believe this team will get better as the season moves on. It is zero surprise to me at all that this team had a sluggish first 1/2 to the season. I think as the games get bigger our team will get better and settle in more and finish 2nd or 3rd in the Met, which is fine with me.

They may lose in the 1st round, I don't know, but I do know I won't punt on them after 1/2 a season. I have seen too much winning the past couple of years to do that.
 
Drastic changes to a roster obviously don't occur during seasons. They can certainly try to add a piece or two but like I said if you think someone can snap their fingers and half the roster is changed that's absurd.
 
We need a tough d-man that can knock the other player off their feet, take the puck and start a break up ice along with clearing the crease. We have that d-man here sitting in the press box so thats a move that can easily be made. The other problem is we need a big scoring center(who doesn't) and a hard nosed right wing that can score. Those 2 will require probably a core player and prospects going the other way which is not so easy. I think we've played better also the last bunch of games and after a nice dinner at my favorite japanese restaurant I've gotten the bad taste from this ending out of my mouth and ready to move on. Very noticeable in postgame interview Henrik's dissatisfaction with AV not calling the timeout(when does he) in the last minute to get organized. not the first time he's sniped at AV and something to watch going forward. I think Gorton has a very important trade or 2 coming up and will be interesting to see who goes.
 
I've watched the tying goal several times. The problem was three Rangers had their back to Lundqvist watching the puck. Meanwhile Backstrom was standing there in front by himself when Williams took the shot. Nobody noticed him so he was right there for the rebound. Just inexcusable but these are the brain cramps we're dealing with at this point.
 
I really don't think we need all these changes, I guess I'll be in the minority. We have the dmen. McIlrath will get plenty of chances to play as we move forward. Injuries will happen, a trade will happen I think, players will struggle and McIlrath will get plenty of chances.

Upfront we need Kreider and Hayes to get going. We need them, same thing we said prior to the season.

I also think we need to make a move to add another forward from outside as well. Still think a dman gets moved to add the forward. We have some depth there and need another scorer.

Those things happen and I think we'll be fine. As we all know in the NHL the playoffs are a totally different season. Continue to improve as the season moves forward, simply get in, and I have faith this team can get stuff done with the addition of a proven scoring forward.

As the team sits in 2nd place despite playing poorly for the most part since T-Giving, you cannot live and die with every game in the middle of a LONG season.
 
This team virtually has no chance to beat the Craps in a playoff series. It was dumb luck they didn't lose to them last year in 5 games. Washington is totally superior and they also didn't have their best defenseman yesterday who has turned into a stud.

So yes. Drastic changes to this roster are needed. Girardi IMO should be sent to the minors. We may be looking at a Redden situation where this guy totally loses it and becomes a huge negative. Yandle getting dealt is a must. Glass must either be traded or released. This stupidity can't go on. He f'n sucks. Those are the first 2 moves. Then it's a matter of who offers what for Kreider or Hayes and what tools on our team with NTC's will waive them.
 
It's obvious that the Rangers screwed up and under-estimated their prospects. Starting with McIlrath. They figured Skjei would replace Yandle. They did not count on Graves getting this good, this fast. They did not count on McIlrath outplaying Girardi and Boyle.

They also overrated Hayes and Kreider like most of us. Both have had their heads up their asses. I don't see it changing. I think both have big value to other teams because GM's as I have said many times don't think like fans. They think their team will fix players. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That is why I would trade Kreider in a deal for Drouin. I would trade Hayes as well. I'd see if I could deal him for Rychel and some picks to the Jackets. Rangers need more players with a higher IQ and some more toughness. Yandle, again, trade him for some toughness. This team is soft. Anytime they play the Craps you can see it.

Holtby just fanned on it otherwise the Rangers were fucked and would have been out in 5. The fact you can't admit that makes you lose credibility. You're probably the last dumbass in our fan base who still believes in a team that has been buttfucked vs. the two biggest teams they have faced this year in Boston and the Craps.

Girardi's play is so pathetic that he's a laughing stock among other fan bases. Yet you continue to believe he should be in the lineup. He shouldn't even be in the NHL the way he's playing. He needs to go to the AHL for 20 games and attempt to remember how to play hockey. Right now, he's no longer an NHL player. The fact you can't admit that once again shows your absurd homerism.

You have this moronic mentality that because a team was good for 5 years, it will continue to be good. Wake up dude. Windows close. This window on this group has closed. Other teams have clearly passed them by and it's up to Gorton to make drastic changes to open the window up again.

It has everything to do with that. You're just a homer. You can't even admit this team sucks as far as being built for the playoffs. You can't admit other teams are now better than this team in the conference. You can't even admit this team got dumbass lucky vs. the Craps last year in the playoffs. Honestly, this is why some posters here ignore you. You never think anything is wrong which is fucking hilarious considering this team has won jack shit since 1994.

All I know is you post the same thing year after year in here, and I showed it a few weeks back. All I know if you make up trade after trade that never EVER happen.
