That's good confidence to hear from Vince Carter and I think with an attitude like that from the entire team will put them in them far in the playoffs.

If he can work on his defense in the off-season so he's not just average and maybe good once in a while, but can actually be called a "good defender". Also he needs to make the effort to be a slasher first and a shooter second. We all know he can shoot, so now he needs to play inside, he was more effective in 04-05 as a Net when he was used in the post a lot as opposed to last season where he was moved out again.

I question Frank's coaching ability; Kidd should give him advice more often.

No he's always taking a jumpshot. If he drove in more than he would have 30 pts that are very efficent.

I dont get to watch many games, due to the fact espn and tnt dont want to play many of the nets games, maybe that will change this year. Anyways when i do get to watch him play he starts out driving then relaxes and takes more jump shots, also when he does seem to drive he passes it off to someone later in the game it seems. This could be just the games I get to watch or what he does all the time.

uh... sorry vcwannabe... He's too unselfish?! Sorry man, but if Carters unselfish then The Nets just won the NBA Championship! If you think he's not shooting enough, You gotta get your facts straight. Carter does what he wants and when he wants. If there's a guy who has been unselfish its Jason Kidd. In the Nets 2 straight East Championship, Kidd was scoring and had control of the team. He made Kenyon, Vanhorn better than they really are. Jefferson can get better with Kidd. The Nets are so predictable with Carter. Everybody knows who's going to take the shot. Carter forces more shots than anybody in the NBA. He's all highlights. With the number of shots he's taking he should average 30 points. The reason he's not? Most of his shots are forced, low percentage. Come on... what he should do is let the game come to him... Kidd will get him the ball... but let the others play too. Jefferson will get better. He has proven to be a big contributer even if he gets less touches. For the Nets to win... Kidd should take control of the ball. Carter will get his touches and so will the rest of the team... because thats Kidd's game... UNSELFISH!

Actually, Carter could be considered, not necessarily unselfish, but under used. I know that sounds weird considering he already takes the most shots on the team, but he only takes 19.2 shot attempts per game. That isn’t exactly a lot. He should be taking at least 22 per game. Not much of a difference? Well, he took 22.2 in the playoffs and his scoring increased to 29.6. He improved his scoring to 30PPG and he wasn’t shooting the three at his normal efficiency.

If said before that when Vince takes on a driving mentality, he is damn near unstoppable. When he gets to the hole, it’s almost guaranteed to turn into a basket; he is too explosive to blocked.

Also, a motivated Vince is great for the Nets, and brutal for every other team. Maybe this will be the season that he gets that ‘killer instinct’ mentality that he only seems to find in the fourth quarter.

He has other teammates that can score, and New Jersey only takes 77 shots a game.

There are only 5 players in the league who took 20 or more FGA/G last season. 4 scored 29 PPG or more, and Tmac took 21.5 shots and only scored 24.4 PPG. We'll give him a pass because of his injuries.

What Carter needs to do is something similar to Arenas (20.9 FGA/G, 29.3 PPG), and BE EFFICIENT.Or like Pierce who took 18.5 shots to Carter's 19.2 shots, and scored 2.6 more PPG. Similarly Wade took 18.8 shots, and scored 3 more PPG. So what Carter needs to do is continue to take his 19 shots a game, and max 20 a game, but score about 27-28 PPG off those shots. This will only happen if he's going to the line about 10 times a game, and he pulls his FG% back up to the 46-47% range while still hitting 38-40% from outside.

The point is that he should drive and post more. Him "driving it in too" which makes it sound secondary, which is what it is, is not a good thing. He should primarily be a slasher, not an outside shooter. EVERYONE respects his outside shot already, he doesn't need to shot it to us anymore.

Please. We both know you're not a Nets fan, and probably only watched them when they were playing the Raptors or when they were in the playoffs. Quit posting the garbage, because you're obviously too swayed by the Raptors incident to realize the truth: Carter has often been labelled too UNselfish. Selfishness has never been a problem for Vince, which is evident when Frank often chooses Vince to be the playmaker on the team, especially when Kidd was off.

FYI, I am a Nets fan and Kidd's. I couldn't care less what happened with the Raptors. It's ironic coz what the Nets need now is a PF and there were rumors that the team was considering acquiring Kenyon again. I would gladly have Martin and Vanhorn back in place of Carter. Sorry to piss you guys off but Carter won't lead the Nets to a championship. Carter is a great athlete and can help... I repeat... can help the Nets but not lead them. Everything should go through kidd. Honestly, Kidd, Carter and Jefferson are a lethal combo, but Carter has to pick his spot, let the game com to him. Like I said, Jason will get him the ball, and also to the others. Just because Carter handles the ball it does not make him a playmaker. We all know that when he has the ball more often than not he will take the shot. Whether it be a 40 footer or an acrobatic drive. Fact is the Nets need Kidd more than they do Carter. To an extent, yeah... But I don't think Kidd meant for him to do it all the time. Like I keep saying, Carter has to learn to pick his spots... get the flow of the game... not to force it everytime.
