In back yard yesterday with Lucia. As she sat on fence dividing our yard from neighbors', I thought how easy it would be for her to jump from fence to brick wall that runs the back of the street. As if she read my thoughts, she did just that. Sitting or walking on the wall is kitten's play to a cat, but the other side of the wall is a major thoroughfare with heavy traffic. I was afraid she would want to explore and, being the inferior species, I would have to go all around the block to get to her. I got the stepladder and tried to pull her off, but she ran along the wall to neighbors'. Then I put kitty treats on the fence to tempt her. She sat on this high wall preening.

When she finally decided to descend, she realized the truth of being a cat: going up is far easier than going down (their claws curve back, so on the way up they are like lineman's/woman's spikes, on the way down they have to scramble). She looked down at the fence, hesitated, then went next door and used their shrubs to descend.

While I had heart attacks.

You know how I adore Lucia, worship the ground under her paws, she is absolutely the sweetest smartest prettiest best cat in the world. But on scorching nights I wish she would be content to sleep on the foot of the bed instead of tucked next to me. When it's 91F at bedtime I don't need a fur scarf.

Get a small size window AC.

Back in 1971, when I had my Bar Mitzvah, we had a family friend who was kind of an old hippie veterinarian. At the reception, he brought me a present - a kitten inside a cardboard carrying box. On the side he wrote, with a big bold black marker:

"Now that you're a man, I thought you deserved a little pussy."

Ah, the 70s!

Tripped over a root, landed hard on my bad knee, scraped it to hell, and Lucia started loudly meowing. I got hurt, why is she crying?

Hello,
I hope you are alright! Your cat was concerned. I read a story once where a man was on his horse riding on some wilderness trail and got knocked off somehow( unknown how, likely bucked off if/when the horse got spooked over something)per the story. The man was found dead by some hikers and as they came upon him, the horse was lying next to his side. Body reportedly dead for a couple days and the horse didn't leave. Animals love thier owners and feel their pain just as us animal lovers feel animals pain.
Like when someone tells you they didn't sleep...and you yawn.

Ever be talking to someone on the phone, they yawn and then you yawn?
Almost always happens to me!

I am OK, I am strong I am invincible I am woman. Takes more than a scraped knee to bring me down.
I have heard of animals calling when their human needs help.
Read an article years ago about yawning, had a page of photos of various animals yawning and author predicted reader would yawn. It's contagious.
