My wife had a Siamese when she was a teenager living in an apartment block. Every once in a while he would come back smelling of cigar smoke. She figured he had a secret poker game.Heard Lucia talking loudly to people across the street. I went to investigate. The woman said she visits regularly and that she gave Lucia a few treats. A few? She had a whole saucer full.
Lucia is very good at the feline game of acting like this a famine victim. She is really very well fed. Cadging treats from neighbors.
She claims it's good for her glaucoma.Lucia discovered the catnip I planted.
Lucia isn't well. Going to v.e.t. Wednesday for ultrasound and x-ray.
Fingers crossed that it is not something serious.Dropped off Lucia at v.e.t. House is lonely and empty without her. She had to be fasting. Poor cat kept meowing to be fed and I couldn't feed her.
Might want to edit that?Fingers crossed that it is something serious.
Freudian slip...Might want to edit that?
Good news, apparently not cancer. Bad news, we don't know what the hell is wrong. Vet showed Lucia's results to veterinary internist and he couldn't say. I have been giving her psyllium. The idea is to slow her elimination. She is eating but doesn't absorb nutrients, it just runs out of her. Seems to be working. She looks more energetic. We are going to add probiotics and put her on special antiinflammatory diet which I hope Miss Picky will eat, then evaluate. She is so thin. Her tummy is full but she is malnourished.
What does that do?You should ask your vet about giving her a teaspoon of canned pumpkin a day. Not pumpkin pie filling, just plain canned pumpkin.
Is she getting better?People next door went out this morning with their dog so Lucia had the opportunity to explore their back yard. I'm glad she is still alert and curious despite being sick, but the dog will surely pick up her scent.
No.Is she getting better?
Oh fuck, I'm so sorry. That has got to be stressful. Come on Lucia, put that weight on!No.
The vet said it would be weeks to restore colon health. After a month I will bring her in just to be weighed. If she gained even a little weight we are on the right track. If not, hospice care. Keep her comfortable as long as I can and be ready to let her go.
She is so thin it's painful to look at her.
