<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>RealGM Staff Report -
LeBron James and Jason Kidd developed their friendship over the summer while playing for Team USA, and with Jason Kidd confirming to ESPN that he has requested out of New Jersey, the generation-spanning stars could become teammates.

Brian Windhorst of the Beacon-Journal reported on Tuesday that front-office sources indicated the Cavaliers have contacted the Nets in order to learn what it will take in order to complete a trade for Kidd.

Still playing brilliant basketball, Kidd is currently 13th in season FIC, the system used by RealGM to rank players.

According to Windhorst's report, the Lakers, Nuggets, and Mavericks are also interested in trading for Kidd.

Kidd was reportedly nearly dealt to the Lakers last February, but the club decided not to part with Andrew Bynum.</div>

Cavs have ugly PG contracts to offer in Snow this year and next, Jones this year and next, Marshall this year and next and Boobie should do it salary wise.....basically 4 players who's contract comes off the books in 2009. You basically break up Kidd's salary in to pieces, making it easier to deal off again.

hate it... might as well let Kidd stay home if we aren't getting anyone serviceable and no cap relief. These guys also take up roster spots unless you buy them out. Any deal with the cavs would have to include Hughes who's contract is just too ugly.

It would probably have to involve a 3rd team to make it work. The Warriors still have a large trade exception worth $10M from the JRich trade.

I'm not sure if that could some how be worked into the deal with NJ ending up with it.

This weekend during the Cavs/Lakers game, James listed Kidd as his favorite player in the NBA. Followed by a group of players including Wade, Melo, Paul and someone I am forgetting.

True, Mavs can ship Hassell to GSW, but why would GSW take on the contract, then again maybe they'll take Stack, he maybe a better fit with what Nellie's doing.

Stein from ESPN was just on a local radio show, he said Mavs are front runner at this point.

what is Dallas offering and Will or are the nets demanding that the other team takes Collins??

Kidd going to the Cavs means the (very) slim chance that the Lebron-to-Brooklyn-for-100mill theory gets shot

Well Nellie and Mullin could essentially cock-block Mark Cuban from getting Kidd. There's a lot of beef between Nellie and Cuban and it would hurt the Warriors if they faced Dallas again in Round 1 if they acquired Kidd for nothing.

Keeping Kidd in the East helps the Warriors and spiting Cuban is the cherry on top.

the cavs have no one. IF jones, masrshall and hughes were expiring then package them with AV and boobie but thats not the case

Kobe, lol don't know if that was intention as you noted Cavs/Lakers game.

Anyway, I don't know how much the Nets will like the trade if it has to involve Hughes.

Exactly...all these so called experts are just hoping this trade go through with the Cavs so that Lebron can finally live up to the hype bestowed upon him as the NBA's next Jordan. But it's all wishful thinking. Kidd will never go to Cleveland in a trade with the Nets.

Kidd Wants LeBron, LeBron Wants Kidd
January 30, 2008, 12:37 am When asked what team Jason Kidd would like to go to most, Ian Eagle says “He’d go to Clevelend tomorrow.” And LeBron James would love to have him, believing Kidd would get the Cavs a championship. The issue of course, is that the Cavs don’t have much to offer the Nets.

well, LeBron is a selfish, arrogant ass, so it is no surprise that they like each other.

I can't see Kidd going o the Cavs. they have nothing to offer. and I think Rod would like to send him to the West anyway.

I don't know why but ever since Lebron and Wade both signed that shorter extension coming off there rookie contract I've had the suspicion that they want to play together. Don't know if it be in Miami but considering Shaq and Blount would be off the books for 27 mil that season.

exactly raz. Why the hell would Thorn do Benedict Kidd a favor and send him to a decent east team? If I was GM and my star player wanted out after we stuck by him after all the women trouble and embarassment he's caused I'd only be thinking about getting the best deal for the team. **** Kidd, he gets paid 17 million and 20 million and up for these last 2 years. He signed the contract, no one forced him to do it. He should respect that and not expect favors from management for "all he's done." Athletes like Kidd just disgust me. They get paid millions to do nothing for a living and are so far removed from reality. Trade his ass out west to SAC, get Bibby in return and another player and a first rounder. SAC could go back to running like they've always wanted to and Kidd gets to be on a team slightly better than this one while having no real shot at the playoffs. Management and Nets fans win and that's all that matters.

I like this trade we get NYC talent and a lot of shooting for such a crappy shooting team:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...&cash=17:23

i hate athletes. i mean, you play 100 times a year, have the entire summers off, get free healthcare, travel and you get paid millions for sitting on your ass, (some of them) and they stiill complain. motherfucker, give me ONE million and i'll play for any team

I think it was coincidence, because I'm pretty sure Bosh also did the same thing. Do you think all 3 planned on playing together? lol.
