Cavs trying to trade for Wes

Cavs are going to court the hell out of Wes next summer. I don't think they will be able to offer what Portland can though.

I think a lot of teams will. He's turned into a top SG in the league--plays defense and scores well? Not many SGs in the league can claim that title.

The idyllic fit for the Cavaliers to fill their void for toughness, shooting and defensive tenacity resides in the Pacific Northwest: Wesley Matthews of Portland Trail Blazers. Cleveland has adored Matthews for quite some time and its quest of him has been repeatedly vetoed, league sources told Northeast Ohio Media Group.

Portland, at 19-6, is one of the best young teams in the league and is off to its best start in 15 years. Breaking up a sturdy nucleus entrenched in a winning culture isn't in the team's plans.

Barring an unexpected plummet, the Trail Blazers are dismissing all overtures for Matthews. He is a free agent at the end of the season and they have every intention of re-signing him next summer, a league source said.

Soo.... there's no story. WTF. How did this POS get a job? God I'm so glad this dumbass Haynes is outta Portland. Still up to his meaningless articles I see.

Oh, btw
Sources: Blazers attracted to the #Cavs Lebron James to no avail

Wes for LeBron straight up in a sign and trade after the season is over? I don't know.... Does Cleveland have any future 1st rounders they can throw in to sweeten the deal, or did they give them all to MIN in the Kevin Love trade?

BNM

Also.... best start in 15 years? What about last year, genius? Good lord. I can't believe some people here actually miss Haynes.

Ill give them Wes for LBJ.

No way we move Wes to a team whos best asset coming back to us is the cancer causing Soup Juggler

Hayes is an idiot. I'm glad we were able to pawn him off to Cleveland

LOL, no shit!

"Gee, can we please have The Soup Juggler? PLEASE... !?"

I was just about to post this. lol. since when is 19-6 better than... what was it, 22-4 or something?

Since the Blazers aren't for real it's only fair that we give Wes to a team that is.

Wes would be great for Cleveland. Great for most teams really. I hope we keep him. He would be an All Star in the East.

Wes is the heart of this team.

They have nobody outside the two obvious that come close to his value.

Glad Neil feels the same.

Now we know why Lebron was front and center at the Knicks game

I would still be interested to see what the Cavs are offering, As well as other teams. Not because I want Wes gone or traded but to just see what his value is around the league. You never just want to come out and say no and you never want to fall in love. Olshey has his work cut out for him and it should be very interesting come trade deadline into the off-season .

You don't know that Neil feels the same, You can only speculate like everyone else.

If you stop posting asinine trade offers that have no basis of reality, then i'll agree.

In other words, stop making asinine trade offers that have no basis of reality.

I think any GM should consider any trade proposal. It's just that some of them take about 1/10th of a second to reject. Outside their top three players, the Cavs have nothing the Blazers would trade Wes for. And even considering their top 3, none of them get us a shooting guard to replace Wes' role. So unless we're getting Lebron in return, we'd need another team involved to dump Love or Irving for a SG. It's a non-starter and a non-story.

To look at it another way, the GM should evaluate and place a value on every player on their roster, continually, and at all times have an idea what they'd be willing to trade each player for. So when an opportunity comes up, they should know right away if the opportunity is worth considering or pursuing. By the same token, they should be scouting every team in the league and placing a value on other team's players, and determining which players they'd make a play for if given the opportunity, and who they'd be willing to give up to get them.

I have no doubt our front office does exactly that. It's their job.

And while I agree that "the Portland Trail Blazers have no interest in moving Wesley Matthews and breaking up this nucleus", nor shoud they, everyone and every player has their price. If it were me, I'd value and price every player who makes up "our nucleus" very, very high. Chemistry and fit matter.

All that is to say that a trade involving any of our starting five, even Batum, is extremely unlikely in the near future.
