OT Censoring Post!

Welcome to our community

I find it appalling when a persons speech is censored, in this forum or other forums. Although it is necessary at times to enforce the support for other higher priority considerations, such as but not limited to public safety.

@SlyPokerDog walks this line quite well, in that he has published the defined rule of, no personal insults will be allowed. While I can find more than a little disagreement with what he defines or sees as a personal insult, his rule is understandable, and easy enough to restrict ones self and remain in compliance.

We now seem to be entering a new era, where the rules are not defined, perhaps there is no rule that can be expressed, other than the post did not please the moderator. I sure hope we do not have members that like to see censorship of post that do not please them. Failing to hit the "like" button is one thing, supporting undefined righteous censorship is quite a big step toward the intolerable.

We have three active staff members here in the Blazer forum, @Strenuus, @PtldPlatypus, and myself. This is the largest and busiest forum on SportsTwo and one of the largest and busiest sports forums in the USA if not the world. The last time I saw the numbers the Blazers had the longest time spent on site and that is because of this forum. That means that people post, read, post some more. Just the fact that the Blazers shut down their own forum and joined up with us means we're doing somethings right.

@Strenuus and @PtldPlatypus do an excellent job. They are not paid for it or given any compensation or swag for it. They do it because they care about this community. I have not seen either of them take actions that hurt this community. Because of that I give them free reign to moderate as they feel is necessary. More importantly I do not ask them to be SlyPokerDog clones. Like @Natebishop3 pointed out yesterday I pretty much have a set playbook that I follow, a series of actions that I take when a thread is going sideways. And like Nate also pointed out that doesn't always work. I welcome our staff not to mimic what I do but for them to do what they think is best. I am always looking for ways to make this community more fun and interesting and new ways to moderate when things aren't.

As I have instructed staff our job is to promote healthy and fun conversation and debate, I have not seen them take any actions that have not been in support of that.

If you were to ask our staff here they would rather not to have to edit or delete any posts. But when shit gets ugly in a thread they take the time and try to make things better.

I'm asking you to instead of complain about something a moderator does to instead try and look at why it was done and if necessary to suggest a different or better course of action.

In this thread @oldfisherman and @bodyman have tried to say it without saying. You applauded @olfisherman for doing so. Therefore you thought about it. Therefore you lied. Implied\infered, I don't give a good damn. At least finally you are saying it even it is infered. Still can't call @dviss1 out by name huh. He doesn't get away with anything. He expresses his anger like you, and if he uses personal insults his posts are edited and he is told not to. Sounds to me its a matter of you not being able to stand being upstaged by a black guy.
Your post is the kind of loony lwnj post that would have sex with a black guy before daring to disagree with him.

Go back and search my posts over the last 4 days. Then come back and apologize directly for saying I didn't have the balls or whatever it is you think you're saying.

The funniest part of this is that I dropped this the other day. Guess I'm not the only one who sees it.

@dviss1 has called us all ignorant 354,000 times.

Hmmmmm

I'm ignorant when it comes to racism and African Americans. I think I can understand more than most because I've seen racist crap directed at my father just because he sounds like Ricardo Montalban but I have no clue what it's like to be black in today's America.

Just like I'm ignorant when it comes to doing bodywork on cars. That I can learn but it doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

It can be tremendous fun. It can be tremendously irritating.

You do remember how I learned the word hispanics use instead of the N word? I told this before.

I kept hearing my co-workers saying fuck Miatas or so I thought. After months and months of hearing it I hadn't seen a Miata in the shop.

I finally asked what Miata they were talking about and they told me what they were saying. Mayate.

There isn't a race of people on Earth who don't have racists among them. The difference is white people have been the majority in this country. That's it. As long as the left wants to keep us all in different categories we'll always be at odds.

I can't help anyone with their past. I can't change it. I can't change what happens to them today. In fact, the other night I decided to do a little experiment. I live in a diverse city and thought I'd give anyone who isn't white the stink eye if they said hi to me. Just to see their reaction.

I've had multiple opportunities just this weekend and I just couldn't do it.

I don't like censorship. I also don't like people hating on other people because the color of their skin.
Says the post making up shit about me. Tags me. I tell the post to search my posts and the post runs off.

Which is typical of the left. Revert to your indoctrination. Get called on it. Ignore it.

Rinse and repeat.

You bring this on yourself then....I really hope you run into Ed Davis when doing this stupid exercise in racial profiling....and I ain't running anywhere...you consider yourself a conservative...good luck with that..try it in Hawaii sometime and see the result

Ricardo Montalban was the best antagonist in the Star Trek series and movies. It would be a pleasure conversing with your father if he truly sounds like Ricardo!

Will the next Winter Olympics include a new event for Nursing of Grievances?

barfo

What's funny is that I don't hear my father's accent at all. He just sounds like my dad. It's when I introduce people to him that they say it.

What I don't understand and what I see to be a huge problem is the lack of basic respected on differing opinions. I don't have to agree with someone's opinion to respect it. There are many times I don't agree with something that @Dviss posts, but that doesn't mean I don't respect it. And just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean that he's wrong. I see so many times where he will say something is racist and that just spins some of you into a tizzy. Why is it so hard to say, I don't agree with you but I respect your opinion and just leave at that. Instead you waste all this time trying to prove him wrong. Or weird shit like how some black person was racist to you so somehow that means you don't have to care about being racist. If you didn't like being treated like shit then it seems like you should give a fuck about others being treated like it.

Ignorance is a two way street especially when assuming how the other person in a conversation feels or knows.

I find it best to have an open mind and consider possibilities rather than looking for judgment or even perceived judgment.

I've seen a lot of assumptions from both the left and the right in this forum. Take that for what it's worth.

Your post is a complete moron.

A. I have no ill will towards black people.
B. I'd break Ed Davis in half. Although I'm sure he is quite strong.

You didn't research my posts where I've directly called him out. Obviously.

You motherfuckers should move somewhere that really is diverse and not a pretentious douche container. Portland is rotting your minds. I'm speaking of your posts as usual.

I don't know why I expect different from someone who doesn't know the difference between nate and Natebishop3.

That is terrible Sly. Why don't you bring your dad down the MarAzul for a visit next month. Mr Montalban was one of my favorite actors. Not many of the many Mexicans I have talked with
lately, talk much like Ricardo, but if you dad does, I sure as hell won't mention it. I do expect we would get on fine.

You think screaming at people and judging every word they may say is going to foster compassion?

It makes people say "tough shit" even when they see something is wrong.

You guys admit you don't read every post in every thread. I've read every post dviss has made in any thread I'm in. Every time.

I remember the hundreds of "your post is......." attacks. Your stupid rule fosters the animosity more than anything. If you can't see that well then your post is a stupid stubborn slypokerdog post level reta....err moron.

I just might do that.
