He has pain in his elbow that is not going away. I am so glad they went out and got another catcher. Oh wait I guess they forgot to do that.

Sad that just 2 years ago - this team was supposedly rich with Catcher talent in the minors (Montero, Romine, Sanchez, Murphy), and it is the loss of Cervelli that they can't seem to overcome.

Sanchez and Murphy need to be brought up now. Let's not act like their development and progress is going to be hindered by getting exposure to the big leagues now. It beats reruns of 'Retread of the Week'. Give a kid a shot!

They're not ready. Bringing them up serves no purpose.

But, But, But, we can't says Cashman, Because, Because, a Because we can't it will start their clock to free agency..... Shit, bring up the batboy from A ball if it helps!

I agree vette. It is time to bring AT LEAST Sanchez up. As it is Stewart looks burnt out. I think he's something like 5 for his last 30. Sanchez can't do any worse.

But it's OK to have guys like Cruz, Brignac, Francisco play instead? If you rationalize that a guy isn't ready yet - you'll never call him up. Joba wasn't ready in 2007, and he saved the season working as a setup man to Mo.

Some times you have to be a little unconventional. If they got McCann, then yes - they don't need to bring up Sanchez or Murphy, but they didn't. I'm tired for the next waiver wire hack/retread to get a shot while this team is trying to make the playoffs.

A guy who hasn't even played AAA ball yet is not saving the season. There's also no reason to screw up Murphy's progress for a pipe dream. These guys are not Puig.

Emotionally speaking all Yankee fans are frustrated at this hour, but moving Sanchez would be a mistake at this point.

I understand the frustration but you don't mess up the young prospects you do have for no reason. These guys aren't Bryce Harper

Progress? That's an overblown myth that if you call a guy up, and if he struggles, it ruins him forever. If there was really a plan for any of these kids in the minors, I could agree with you - but right now there is no difference between a guy in AAA or low A ball when it comes to the Yankee system. If it was up to the Yankees - Sanchez may not get a look at AAA until he's 30.

Are you really wanting to see Hafner swing the bat rather than Sanchez? Luis Cruz instead of Murphy? Just because Cashman has these guys playing on the big league club - don't confuse them with being major league players.

I think you are vastly overrating messing up a prospect - the Yankee system be definition is setup for prospects to fail, seeing how they all seem to be in the perpetual state of never being ready. This team needs offense - and they didn't get it today in a deal. if you want to keep going down the 'retread of the week' route, fine - but I've seen enough of that mindless, BS approach.

With Cervelli on the biogenesis list we may not have to worry if he gets a "vacation". Though we all bark about Stewart the game announcers to include Vin Scully last night praise his defense. Ditto Romine is praised for game call and staff handling but couldn't hit a lick. He's gotten a couple lately. I don't follow the minors much so I don't know much about Sanchez. Be willing to bet you though that Russell Martin & A.J. Burnett are probably laughing their a@@e@ off at this point in time. Still thought the Yankees should have gone after Pierszynski on a one year deal to bide some more time. Bitterly disappointed in the way that leadership has failed to provide field performers since the '10 season. Never would come up with another team its the Yankees all or nothing at all but I sure hope to see some major imrovements come forth for next year.

Sanchez is 20 years old, is still learning the position and hasn't even been to Trenton yet. There's no way he's ready to come up unless you want to see him over matched at the plate and struggle behind it. Murphy probably could be called up but it's clear they're giving Romine every chance to see if his hitting will pick up. That being said is it better for his development for Murphy to play everyday in AAA or come up and play part time?

Cervelli has hustled and I can't find fault, I feel he worked hard for the Yankees. However, he is a backup catcher at best, plain and simple...

This is the problem - if this team is trying to make the playoffs, they have Stewart at .222, Nix at .230, and Lillibridge at .207. 3 DFA'd guys who are now regulars. How can you not try some of the kids at this point?

There are reasons to have minor leagues. ..to develop young players. You don't throw 20 year old catchers up to the majors. Mentioning Joba did it back in 07 is not a good example. Reasons are: unknown pitchers have the upperhand in initial matchups. And Joba also pitched in college and the minors. Sanchez needs to go through the systen...needs to develop his body and mind have success at each level before facing the best the world has to offer.

By the time Sanchez goes through the Yankee system - he will be 30 years old. Your argument is based on how OTHER team's minor league farm systems operate. The Yankees system is broken and dysfunctional, and the productivity the big league club has gotten from it since it was allegedly fixed when Cashman grabbed control back in 2008 is downright deplorable.

Perhaps you've just gotten used to the way things work, and don't want to make any waves. Perhaps you've grown fond of Cashman's "retreads only" policy and feel like you would be disloyal challenging this mode of building a roster. Do you really think the entire Yankees system is devoid of any bats that can help this decrepit offense?

...I know you don't care for Cashman but saying Sanchez will be "30 years old" before being called up is over-exaggerating a bit, don't you think?

...but seriously, I think you may see Sanchez in September if/when the Yanx are mathematically eliminated but I don't think now is the time. They've already called up one young catcher and they are trying to give him some looks.

OK - maybe 26 (LOL!). But I'd give Sanchez' bat a shot - this team is desperate for another RH bat with some pop. People can claim his bat isn't ready, but look at the guys who are getting regular ABs in this lineup now. In most seasons, promotions of players like Sanchez, Murphy, would be highly questionable, but this season (as I have said all year long) is unconventional. No offense was added yesterday, and while Jeter and Granderson hopefully can help - the team is still a few quarts low on offense. Out-of-the box thinking - the retread status quo approach on offense is being masked by a superior effort by the pitching staff.

...I was disappointed by what DIDN'T happen and I don't see Jeter and Granderson's returns as enough to put them over the top offensively, though obviously I hope I'm wrong. But until it is out of the realm of possibilities for the Yanx to get to the PS, much less be a serious PS threat, I don't see the need for wholesale changes just yet.
...but again, it is very possible we'll see a lot of young faces come September.

What makes u think the kid is ready to face a 94 slider a change up that looks exactly like a fast ball.. look the system is bare that's for sure but just because there is nothing at triple a doesn't mean you throw single a players out there and expect to save a season. Just saying he can't do worse than what they have now is not a good enough reason to rush a kid.

Sucks, the guy worked hard and showed improvements this year, he's a solid C.

But the PED thing hangs over his head, so this injury may be best for him right now, real or fake.

And I laugh when I hear fans constantly gripe about NY not bringing up the kids until they're old, totally clueless, the Yankees have a record of young players coming up very quickly, not the other way around, I doubt fans can show 1 player that should have been in the majors but was not.

What record is that? Do you live in a cave?

I agree - let's bring in more retreads. Instead of giving a kid a shot - let's go with more players who are being cut loose at the end of year who we KNOW can't hit a 94 slider change. You have the creativity of a corpse. If you think giving a kid a chance is gonna ruin his career, then you are delusional. So what's your option - the status quo? Check the waiver wires and see who gets released, and bring in more rejects and think that's gonna get you to the playoffs?

You are unreasonable and it is not worth my time to keep rehashing the same info. This season was lost even at spring training. Only reason for the retreads was because of injuries. Look at triple a. Nothing there either. There are no Bryce Harper's in this organization. End of story.

There's nothing wrong with giving kids a shot as long as they're ready. Sanchez is not the guy you bring up.

So what's your plan smart ass? You say the season is lost, and was lost in spring training? Really? I do not think Girardi, Mo, Kuroda, and few of the guys who have this team a few games out of a playoff spot with a 1/3rd of the season to go got the message that what they are doing is all for naught. Maybe they should just quit now.

This team's offense needs to improve to give this pitching staff more support. Some of us believe that this team should exhaust all options from within, seeing that the retread route isn't going well, and that the trade deadline came and went and did not add much help.

At least we all know - where you stand now. You have already declared the season over (even declared it over in ST), and seem content with the status quo retreads finishing out the season. Got it! But you don't want to give kids a chance, so you're good with this season ending with no playoffs and it being played out by guys who have zero chance of returning.

You are right about one thing - we do not have to rehash this topic any further, because we all now know your stand is rooted in quitting, giving up, declaring all is lost, and slugging mindlessly and aimlessly to the finish line on the back of more retreads.

Cano, Melky, Robertson, Nova, Joba, Hughes, IPK...

What have you got? who should have come up?

Cano/Melky - 2005; Joba/Hughes/IPK - 2007; DRob - 2008. You do live in a cave, don't you? You couldn't even come up with a name since 2008. And don't bother now - you've already lost badly going back to 2005 to come up with names.
