I have long liked Oladipo because everyone compares his defense with Tony Allen's, and that's high praise indeed. However, for a while there it sounded like he was Dwyane Wade or a bigger Russell Westbrook, but he isn't. Pelton and Ford say that he'll probably end up as Iguodala. Now, that's excellent, but it's not perennial all-star or even huge difference-maker. For that reason alone, if I was picking #1 I'd probably feel that I had to go with Noel. Apart from anything, he's at least 2 years younger than Oladipo and his type is much rarer than Oladipo's. He's a bigger risk, of course, because he's so skinny and doesn't have particularly broad hips or shoulders, but he's at least the difference-maker on defense that Anthony Davis was. His shotblocking is PHENOMENAL (and Olshey has singled that out as a particular need) and he can defend the perimeter with ease.

If indeed the Blazers are after the #1 pick, then I would bet BIG MONEY that it's for Noel.

(A long time ago I came up with a principle based largely on Michael Finley, but also influenced by Karl Malone: better the player who had a worse senior season than the player whose only good season was his last. Pelton agrees: his system really focuses on the early years and is suspicious of sudden leaps in production like Oladipo had. Nolan Smith, anyone?)

I could see either way at #1 (Len or Nerlens), but I agree on Zeller. Go two bigs. You just dealt LMA and you needed another big. You go for some solid big talent right away.

Agreed. LMA's a lot to give up. I'm a huge fan. But you're getting three pieces, all very young, and any/all of the three could become all-stars. Long odds, for sure, but you have to gamble in this league to win. Seems like a fairly solid gamble. We'd at least get three quality rotation players.

Given that this country has twice elected a black man as President, and that the only black justice on the Supreme Court voted in favor of this decision, I'd say there's good evidence that this particular section of the Voting Rights Act was rather outdated.

McLemore looks like he has star potential. He can shoot from anywhere on the floor (Oladipo isn't a great shooter), and he's crazy athletic. Reminds me of Ray Allen a bit when he was young.
