Rumor Channing Frye return?

How does the minimum salary cap effect how much cap space we have available. In other words is the amount we have available calculated from the league minimum? Which we are below? So maybe adding Frye does not effect our cap space since we are so far under? Would Frye 's salary make us go over that minimum? What is the minimum number?
It doesn't. All that happens is we have to cut a check to the players we do have making up the difference between our currently salary and the minimum cap number.

League sources confirm the Milwaukee Bucks have made Greg Monroe and Michael Carter-Williams available in a trade as @GeryWoelfel reported.

"Based on conversations with several NBA execs from both the Eastern and Western conferences, the Bucks are more than receptive to playing “Let’s Make a Deal.’’

And that includes possibly moving Carter-Williams, who has been consistently inconsistent since joining the Bucks. Carter-Williams has had some dynamic games this season, like an 18-point, 13-assist outing against Sacramento and a 20-point, 12-assist showing against Chicago.

On the flip side, Carter-Williams had only two assists in 26 minutes against Portland on Wednesday night, one assist in 27 minutes against Memphis last week, and zero assists in 25 minutes against Miami two weeks ago.

But Carter-Williams isn’t the only frontline player the Bucks are apparently willing to move. A much bigger surprise is the Bucks have made known that center Greg Monroe is available at the right price, according to some NBA officials.

The Bucks created a major splash last summer when they signed Monroe as a free agent, outbidding mega-market teams like the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers."

I like how they reference the Lakers and Knicks and not us, even thought we came In 2nd I believe

Friendly wager? Does Meyers get shipped out, or resign with the Blazers? Shipped out can either be a trade or just signing with another team and we don't match.

I think he stays. I think his rare skill set is more valuable than ever in todays game ( wish he would be more consistent), he is young and still on the upside and I don't think the Blazers want another Will Barton scenario. What would you like to wager?

This is in no way a cop out, but I will refrain from wagering, since I am a compulsive gambler. Not your fault. Just letting you know. :)

That, and I'm in a bad mood today, so my posts may be more terse and annoying than usual.

0 interest in either. Maybe we can be the third team.

I would only be interested in Channing if that draft pick was included. The Nets were dumb enough to trade their pick for Gerald Wallace, crazier things have happened.

A moderately-sized pile of lukewarm meh. I wouldn't play him over anyone on our roster.

And we got Roy for telfair. But maybe Orlando wants Vonleh? Can't see them doing it without a player on a rookie deal. Or a guythey believe in that they know will be with them more than half a season

So after we pay our players to reach the minimum, that number becomes our total salary for the year. So when we are calculating how much cap space we have, we are starting from the league minimum, not where we currently are at.

Maybe I've hyped up Vonleh too much, but I wouldn't give him up for only what is the tenth pick in the draft right now. Maybe if they fall apart between now and the deadline and it's in the top five. They can totally have Meyers for the tenth pick though.

I'm thinking we could offer Kaman for Frye and absorb his salary but I'm not giving up any young bigs for him

Monroe would be nice as part of a center by committee. He has flaws as well but I would definitely be interested in taking his salary off their hands.

YES!@!!

I imagine IF we had interest at all in Frye, it'd be primarily taking on his contract and getting a future asset for doing so.

Neil could be guessing on the price of Leonard, and feeling like he doesn't want to pay that price, so striking now to potentially get a 1st is attempting to carry that asset value over.

I'm uncertain of details on that final year of his contract, I see it both ways.

I don't think the deal(if there were one) is a ton about Frye the player. I think he'd get 15 minutes a night hitting 3s, and would likely lead to small increase in vonleh minutes.

Sure. Leonard for Frye and their pick. ;)
I could honestly see that happening, then us buying out Frye and using this years cap space to cover the whole buyout.

I believe it's a penalty, so it has nothing to do with our total cap space

You're sure interested in making Orlando better....

I'm sure picks could be involved to balance things out. If they gave us their pick in that deal, would you not be interested?

More than likely, you'd lose Davis in the deal and be able to slide Leonard to the center and utilize Frye at the 4

Boo. Davis is our most effective big. I'd rather keep him unless we're bringing in a starter. Frye would be an interesting addition and I might do it for Leonard straight up.

There isn't any scenario where Leonard with a few months until free agency is returning a first round pick.

That's a very interesting idea. My guess is you can not do it, though. Otherwise I think we would have seen philly do it previously.
