Notice Charles Barkley says NBA/NFL players should be able to jump the line and get vaccine shot

As a guy who works hard , but is struggling in this economy, Sports and entertainment are my "Look Forward To's". I am a severe asthmatic who understands that Medical Personnel, First Responders, Elderly need to be 1st up. Politicians should have been last. But i'm not against Sports and entertainers getting theirs next. If i get mine last, it is what it is. But i enjoy having Sports and Entertainment to take my mine off the everyday shit of this world. Just my opinion.

I don't agree with Chuck's reasoning, however I agree that professional athletes should be able to jump the line.

A more stable sports season would be beneficial for millions of Americans who are forced to stay home more.

This helps far more than it hurts. I'm all for it.

I'm 69 and my wife is immuno-compromised. We can't get it yet. No fucking way that Kyrie Irving or Patrick Beverly should jump ahead of my wife or me

I agree with this. The reasoning shouldn't be because they pay more in taxes, it should be so the sports are able to keep playing. The economy around each sports team provides jobs and income for thousands of ordinary people. If the sports leagues shut down it cause real problems for real people, not just athletes. We have someone on this board who has felt the financial pain from the NBA shutting down previously. Getting the players vaccines would help prevent that. The issue is always deeper than surface level.

Even with this line of thinking, I still am not sure what priority they should receive, if any.

I doubt he is talking about jumping the 65 and older group. You are already scheduled to be next. I am 62 and I have no problem having them get it before me. I enjoy the entertainment they provide.

What I have a problem with is my healthy 40-year-old neighbor who works for the county in Los Angeles. WTF has she already been vaccinated? It's not like she is on the front line.

Nope, just can't do it. I love watching a ton of sports but I've said it a few times and I will say it again. Professional sports should not be being played right now. Look at the league. Do you think these guys or the people they interact with aren't spreading this shit like crazy throughout all sorts of communities. Every one of these games are potential super spreaders.

Contact sports with a professional (not socially distanced by any means) bubble of 450 (NBA), (713) NHL, (1696) NFL not counting practice squads, and MLB who although aren't as much of a contact sport sure had a lot of outbreaks (750 active roster players)... that kind of a work bubble with that kind of contact has proven to be a hotbed for outbreaks. The NBA bubble was fine I guess but are sports really essential? I don't think they are and doing things that are non-essential at this time is costing hundreds of thousands of lives.

So Chuck saying this elitist bullshit is fucking ridiculous. These guys are younger and healthier than any other industry. It makes no sense, except for the fact that this industry being unprecedentedly reckless.

I know this is hypocritical but I happily watch what I don't agree should be happening and I'm glad that @THE HCP and others that are in his side of this industry are getting paid but at least the jobs that @THE HCP and his colleagues are doing can be manageably socially distanced.

There have been 329600. deaths
5700 under 44

I dont believe athletes, unless bad underlying conditions, should should receive vaccines first.
Im a few months from 70 and am willing to wait for first responders and those in medical and if I was 30 Id wait for all seniors and those high risk, to get theirs.
We know several that have gotten it, one my son, and they all recovered quickly.

This, this right here and how it is totally indicative of a huge part of our population is why what Barkley said is total bullshit.
