How long before we're told the shooter was a disgruntled transgender individual....?

First it was reported by Deseret News it was a young black man but they deleted that from their website.

Now it appears it was an old white guy.

Christ, so now all us old white guys are gonna be demonized as domestic terrorists. Damn, and here I thought I was a protected class under King Donny.........

The saddest part of this whole tragic situation is that the current state of affairs under the Trump administration(s) has robbed me of my empathy (or the majority of it anyway) for those who seek to degrade and divide us through vile words, actions and lies. Karma is very, very real. My heart goes out to the Kirk family. But Mr. Kirk had to know that his actions and rhetoric on a national scale were eventually going to piss off one crazy or another. You cannot attack a wide range of targets and not expect to become a target yourself. Thoughts and prayers.......................until the next shooting, and the next one, and the next one.......

July 2023 Twitter post
A widely circulated post from July 2023 on Twitter (now X) quotes Kirk as saying: "It's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment". The post quotes Kirk, but he did not make the statement verbatim.
February and May 2024 YouTube shorts
On YouTube, Turning Point USA and other accounts posted a "shorts" video of Kirk debating a college student on gun control in February and May 2024. In the video, Kirk says that there is a "cost to liberty" and that gun ownership will result in gun deaths. He compares this to driving, which he considers a moral good despite resulting in auto fatalities. Kirk states that the "positives far outweigh the negatives". He explicitly defends the Second Amendment as a protection against a tyrannical government.

Seeing him get shot wasn't on my approved list of things I wanted to see today.

As much as the man is a disgusting pig and should be mocked until the cows come home, this isn't good for anything.

Agreed

That being said, this is going to suck in the news cycle.

Most likely he got shot to take away from the epstien files. I normally dont believe in conspiracy theories but since Trump and all his people and people who voted him are the stupidest fucking idiots, I dont put it past for people to be martyrs in all this.

There are two extremely sad things i'm seeing from this event.

#1 - dude is a father. If he doesn't make it his child has one less parent in the world.

#2 - these people are already blaming the left and calling them disgusting before any details about the perpetrator comes out.

Any sane reasonable person waits to review the facts before going into full blown rage.

Lmao it was one of their own. Explain this away you fucking idiots. God i love how stupid each and every trump voter.

I've never understand why people jump to conclusions about shit like this. They're almost never correct in their assumptions, and it only makes things worse.

The shooter might be a Democrat/liberal/progressive or he might be a Republican/conservative/maga, it doesn't fucking matter.

This should never have happened, and nor the rhetoric that he espoused should never have been allowed to go mainstream.

While I agree, he also deserved it. Both can be true.

There should be no room for political violence one way or the other.

Agreed. But im not sad it happened to someone who encouraged the very thing that happened to him. Again, both can be true.

I wonder if the shooter is someone who had like a child who was targeted by the rhetoric that Kirk espoused, or maybe had a spouse taken by ICE.

NOT condoning shit, just wondering the motivations.

Its odd to both not want political violence (cause I agree, it has no place anywhere)... but then one side has stoked the fire on both sides so much that it was inevitable

So where do you even stand when people are so deplorable but there shouldn't be political violence BUT one side asks people to be violent to the other side? Did they expect one side to just NOT do anything?

Do you see the conundrum yet and why people act so strongly? Its systemic within the political arena. So again, blame Trump for all of this going on, because it went on A LOT less before he took office the first time.

They're now saying there is no suspect in custody.
