That over the top marketing blurb says the book is about the criminal histories of players. So I'm guessing Chauncey isn't in it?
This book is where all the information regarding Chauncey allegations are coming from.

I personally think this is gonna get ugly
reading the response on reddit is shocking. i agree with you. the introductory PC is gonna be a disaster. Unless there are some other moves to deviate attention away from this, it's gonna linger

My biggest fear in the whole process was the unknown of Billups. Not a lot of stuff out there on his outlook, schemes, etc. This video I found does show some of his thought process and highlights some parts of how he’ll be different than Stotts.

I think the biggest thing is, he WAS Dame. He understands the game from a PG’s perspective, and I think that clip alone shows he’s going to be MUCH more adaptable than Stotts ever was.

I liked the known abilities of MDA, but who knows, maybe Billups is the next Kerr or Nurse. A first time coach has the chance to pop and be a top tier coach vs hiring a retread like PDX usually does. Take a listen to this clip.

Did a little reading about the allegation, and it definitely left me queasy. I bolded that last sentence. Bruises on her throat, rectum and cervix. She was almost certainly raped, and Billups was definitely around the night it happened. And she was paid to shut up. https://www.si.com/nba/trailblazers...gation-against-chauncey-billups-trail-blazers

On November 9, 1997, Jane Doe was at a comedy club with Antoine Walker, her on-again, off-again boyfriend. Also there were Billups and Ron Mercer, Walker's rookie teammates with the Boston Celtics, as well as two of his longtime friends and other women. Doe hadn't previously met Billups or Mercer, but was acquainted with Walker's friends.

Doe alleges that when the group was ready to leave, one of his friends told her that Walker wanted her to go back to the Celtics star's luxury condo in Waltham, MA. While Doe claims that Billups drove her, Mercer and one of the remaining men to Walker's home, Billups later told police that he was never at Walker's condo that night.

According to Billups, Doe initiated and performed consensual oral sex on him in his car, the full extent of their sexual interactions. Mercer also claimed he wasn't at Walker's home on November 9, instead telling law enforcement he'd received oral sex from Doe at Billups' house.

Doe, however, alleged she woke up naked the next morning in Walker's bed, an assertion for which Billups and Mercer offered no explanation to police.

Once at Walker's condo in Waltham, Doe reported that she was led to a bedroom where Billups and Mercer engaged in multiple "unwanted" sex acts on her. One of Walker's friends purportedly forced Doe to perform oral sex on him, at some point asking Billups and Mercer, "Yo, who wants some?"

Doe allegedly blacked out during the attack, waking on November 10 in bed with one of Walker's friends, naked amid used condoms and condom wrappers littered across the floor. She then quickly called a friend, saying, "Something bad happened."

Walker, for his part, denied Doe's allegation that he was asked to join in on the alleged rape, and claimed he never saw an assault take place at his residence.

Doe was admitted to the Boston Medical Center the day after the reported assault, a rape kit revealing injuries to her throat, cervix and rectum. There was also bruising on Doe's back, and semen was found inside of her.

Should this disqualify him? I don't know. It was a long time ago and he wasn't convicted. But it's pretty grim.

On purely a basketball basis, I'm reasonably happy. My biggest concern with D'Antoni wasn't his offense or defense so much as his age. The guy is 70 years old.

The league is only getting younger, and I do thing an ex-player in his early 40's is going to probably relate better to the team.

If it doesn't work out, hopefully we're quicker to pull the hook on him than we were with Stotts.

You don't honestly believe that do you? You do understand the uphill battle victims face when they speak out about sexual assault right? Speaking out against a professional basketball player amplifies that many times over.

In these instances, everyone always thinks about the accused and how they will move on.

Why don't more think about the victim and what they're going through?

Who is the victim here? You are about to be embarrassed intellectually and to the point where your ignorance could paint you as a bad person.

To clue you in, you have NO FUCKING IDEA what happened.

What blows me away is that since this allegation, hes been employed by the Toronto Raptors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, ESPN, and the Los Angeles Clippers again as a coach, yet here we are over 2 decades later and Blazers fans are getting mad at this hire. He's won an NBA championship, a finals MVP, and is beloved in multiple cities. It's been 24 years. Hes created a hell of a career, has a wife and daughters, and is widely considered one of the greatest leaders of all time in the NBA. Instead of the dumb outrage that twitter and forums love to create, can we please give him a shot to make this team a winner like we would anyone else and stop railroading him about an allegation from the last millennium?

The top story about him is going to be the rape case by our local media.
LOL, man I think people are really sick of seeing you pop your damn head into every fucking post made, get a life bro. John Canzano 2.0 with nothing to do but post 100 messages a day being a negative nancy.

And no you have no fans, you’re just a undercover troll

Seriously some of you bring up this rape shit are sad individuals.

Fuck all these ‘holier than thou’ motherfuckers. Billups was never charged in a court of law and everything reported is just an allegation up to this point. They seriously need to look in the mirror first before they start pointing fingers at others. Believe me, EVERYONE’s got skeletons. And if you say you don’t, you’re not looking hard enough (or you’re lying to yourself).
Skeletons maybe. Violent felonies?
I have no direct knowledge either. Maybe team thoroughly investigated. Maybe he was only tangentially involved.
But, you know, no one was convicted of the murder of Nicole Brown and she is dead.

"We want to turn those good shots into great shots. And you can only do that with ball movement, without selfishness."
C.Billups.

That's good for me.
He gonna be a great Coach if the players listen to him

As a fan of the Billups hiring (just from a Basketball standpoint) you cant go on Twitter or reddit right now, lot of Fans going crazy

I guess we view this differently. I don't see anything here that should be brought up against Billups 24 years later. No charges or clear accusations are against solely Billups.

OJ fled police, was arrested, charged and tried for a crime.

How is Billups situation comparable?

We just hired someone with a serious rape allegation against them. Yes he was never charged, but the optics and info about the case are real.

saying fans are “going crazy” is unfair, IMO. It’s a serious deal and everyone has a right to react in their own way

There was no accusations against solely Billups. It was at a party against a group of people with the alleged victim blacked out. The alleged victim received a financial gain. It's an isolated incident.

People can react however they want. I find the Blazers and Billups conduct 100% reasonable.

I totaly agree, but Billups was also hired by the Clippers and ESPN and probably had several other Jobs and we don't know what happened on that night, even Jody has a questionable past. I'm curious why these people don't have the same energy towards her?

We just had a president who has been accused of sexual misconduct at least 26 times and nearly half the country worship him, I think one allegation from 22 years ago, I which Billups wasn’t charged shouldn’t hold him back.
