Im getting married In June and im trying to figure out a decent honeymoon. Our budget is around $1500. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I can do for the Honeymoon. She said she would be good with a road trip or something but that seems a little lame to me... Anyway... any ideas? The wedding is costing more than expected.

Here's a few:

Last year, we took a trip to the see the redwoods. Stayed in Crescent city, Ca. That was pretty cool, not too expensive and there are a few upscale hotels in the area.

I used to live in Victoria, BC, and that is a bit like a European thing if you were to stay at The Empress, pretty fancy place but would still fit the budget. Lots of good sights there and up island, plus the trip there via Coho Ferry in Port Angeles is cool.

BC Sunshine coast is very nice too, lots of secluded places to stay.

Victoria BC is great. Romantic city. Leave your car in Port Angeles and take the ferry over. You can walk everywhere you need to be.

I was just posting about Victoria.

I have heard Victoria from multiple people... maybe I will work on that route. Its someplace where she has mentioned multiple times.

No offense, Sly, but Victoria can be rainy in June.

I like the idea of the Redwoods. A slow drive up or down the Oregon coast can also be nice. There is only 1 beach front motel in Crescent City (stayed there last year) and it wasn't too expensive at all.

You could also go to the Bend area but it may be a tad early. So much nivational snow that good hiking and wild flowers.... may be scarce.

Also, I know a few good and cheap condos in Lincoln City. Not the Taj, but ocean front, full kitchens and under $100/night if you want to stay for 8-10 nights.

Visit family homes in other states. On occasion I will use my grandfather's seasonal Florida home during the summer. At minimum I would pay for discounted airline tickets (helpful knowing people working in the airline industry) and food.

My Rickenbacker is named Victoria.

Sigh. I love her.

Go to Hawaii. Easily doable for under $1500 if you don't go to the luxury resorts. Cabo is probably doable as well, flights are probably cheaper.

edit shit: Flights to hawaii are expensive right now.

double edit: so are cabo.

both are like double what I usually pay for flights! fucking Obama.

Alaskan cruise is likely doable as well. Food and everything included.

San Francisco is our favorite west coast city. 12 hr drive, very romantic and lots to see there. Vancouver BC would be second on our list. Check out www.vrbo.com for vacation rentals by owners no matter where you end up, I save tons or money on accommodation vs hotels usually, and you always get something with much more character.

12 hours? Takes me like 9.5 with 2 15-minute stops. Are you in Portland?

A couple days at Resort at the Mountain, or somewhere in Sunriver maybe? Do you guys play golf?

Well, we're 2 days into May Gray and both have been 90 and sunny. Maybe it's a make up year.

We had no May Grays or June Gloom last year. This year, so far also.

Two years ago we had no summer t all. It was all gloom. Last winter it was in the 30s at night and 50s in my house in the mornings. This past winter, I didn't have to wear long pants.
