Cho the new Frontrunner?

Welcome to our community

Kind of like how we chose the current President of the United States.

Wait we chose him? Gosh and I thought the non-representative media, RNC and DNC winnowed it down to acceptable candidates for the International Banking Catel / Military industrial complex.

What would you call your fictional system? Democracy?

Has Cho ever played any basketball that didn't involve a rule that they had to pass to the asian kid before shooting or the shot won't count?

Do you have some sort of mandatory vaugely/overtly racist remark quota you have to fill or something? WTF dude?

Has he ever had any basketball coaching, managerial or playing experience whatsoever? Shit, we might as well hire the #1 fantasy hoops player in the nation then.

He's a good lawyer and number cruncher. Great. Assistant GM. Not the head honcho, you need someone who can handle the big deals and knows about the game of basketball.

See there you go! Valid critique without resorting to race baiting IT CAN BE DONE!

Some people are hard to please. If the Blazers had hired someone like Danny Ferry, we'd be hearing he's a retread. If they hire an assistant GM and give him a shot, he has no experience (and besides might look at you "all slanty-eyed").

I agree entirely... any currently available GM is a retread or a newbie. That includes Cho and Ferry and KP and Thorn and Jerry West... everyone.

There are valid concerns about how well Cho would do, but that could be said about every and any candidate.

From my perspective, Cho just might be a great GM. He's young and smart and respected and comes from a different angle than many current executives. That difference just might give us an advantage until the other teams catch up.

If he does poorly? Oh, well. There will always be other candidates next time around, but Cho might not be around if we replace a retread who flops (PatterNash).

Well said. Repped.

But, but ED how can he compete when he doesn't look like the lad in this picture?

It looks like Bob Whitsitt.

LMAO. OH I literally lol'd when I read that.

This thread just got a tad too racist for my liking earlier on. As Oldmangrouch said, the guy could be purple with a third testicle on his forehead. As long as he can run the team competently I'm all for it. I'm a Cho fan thanks to you and others converting me.

Is it too late to use a retread political campaign motto?

Cho gets it, Cho gets it DONE!

what's either of your basis for this?

I think cause they drafted Kevin Durant.

It's insane. OKC hasn't had to contend with HALF of what Portland has had to and we fired our GM for their asst. GM.

There isn't a single thing OKC has done better than Portland yet. Not a single thing and we're firing our people for theirs.

It's fucking stunning.

I think they've utilized their cap space better, and I give Cho credit for that development.

Makes you wonder why we fired KP doesn't it? It definitely wasn't for basketball reasons **hint, hint**.

By the way as to surviving the rigors of Blazers basketball, I think you can credit the coaching staff and players themselves more then you can front office folks.

They've only had to hand out 1 major/max/big contract so far to the future best player in the league am I not correct?

That was about as difficult a call as the #2 pick 3 years ago.

Look, I hated the Pritchard move. They told me they wanted experience to get the team over the hump. FINE!!!!! FINE! I'll listen

So who's the front runner? The new Kevin Pritchard only this time with no experience. SURPRISE!!!!!

I hear what you saying but other then West (and I suppose Thorn now?) who is there that is GOOD? Oh and West ain't coming here. Pfund and Ferry are both kind of meh. Sure Cho could end up being a disaster it's possible, but I also think he has a lot more chance to be WOW then Pfund or Ferry. Seriously, who out there who would actually come to Portland is the no-brainer pick that would satisfy you?

You do realize I didn't fire Kevin Pritchard right?

Seriously though, who is the slam dunk GM to shoot for? I'm waiting for the Pearls of Wisdom so I can get back to my handlers/gaming group up in Seattle.

The problem is you have no idea what you're talking about and you're not giving anyone a chance. Luckily smarter people than you are in charge, people who don't automatically assume the worst in everyone. What a way to go through life.

That's because you're acting like a 5 year old, plugging your ears & closing your eyes to anything that contradicts your opinion, and yelling "AHHHH, can't hear you, can't hear you!" If you'd pull your head out of your ass and open your mind a little maybe you'd actually learn something. You said the following is what you're looking for in a GM...

Fine...

Okay, you're turn, direct me to your rock solid evidence as to why you think he's not worthy. I'm looking forward to this.

Obviously, because me and PA did. Duh!

To answer without being flipant I'll say this.

Pritchard was fired FOR sure for one of these reasons. (we think :))

-his agent
-cant make a big trade
-cant sign a big free agent
-arrogant (or something)

So we are going to hire a guy who's only two advantages over Pritchard are he has a nice agent and is not arrogant.

Best owner in the game.

Do you not think our next hire should at least check all 4? Retread or not? At least we'd know he has in the past signed a guy or two and/or has made a major/big trade.

WHY

WHY

WHY the FUCK... at this point in the building of this team do you bring in a rookie? It makes absolutely no sense ESP considering who we just let go.

There isn't one. If there were a slam dunk hire he'd already have a job. I'm not looking for a slam dunk but at the very least a lay in.

I'm 100% against a 3 pointer as the clock expires which is exactly what Cho is. Nobody knows how he'll do.

We don't know why he was fired. Speculation is fine, but it doesn't make it fact.

It's not about who they've signed, but rather using their cap space to facilitate trades to acquire draft picks. Kurt Thomas was a great move for them. It's just been really smart planning.

We're still looking at hiring someone with LESS experience than the guy we just fired at perhaps the most important point in the franchises history.

Someone who's never made a major trade or signed a major free agent.

Are you seriously going with "Well you never know!" as a reason to hire a fucking general manager?

Great stuff people.
