Chuck Hayes question?

There are actually a lot of unrestricted free agent big men out there

Just don't think the full MLE gets it done

Tyson Chandler
Nene
Kris Humphries
Samuel Dalembert

Dave Smith was suggesting today that Portland should go after DeAndre Jordan. Any thoughts on what his price tag might be?

probably very high and Clips have said they will match any offer, all we "might" have is full MLE and no way that works

Since 2006 they've been pretty good at not making terrible personnel decisions.

Cutting Roy saves so much $ for Paul Allen, and Paul is reportedly much tighter with the wallet these days. Not that he won't spend when necessary, but he's definitely trended away from writing blank checks.

besides not paying Lux tax do not non lux tax teams receive payments from a pool created by the teams that paid the tax? so isn't it somewhat of a "double whammy" and mean even the potential for more millions if Roy is amnestied?

Sounds right

Hmmm.

Darius Miles Medical Waiver

Threatening letter to the other teams

Sergio - Never panned out

Peteri - Still not close to being in the league

Rudy - Not a good fit with Nate

Claver - Another player not here

Freeland - Another player not here

Oden - Knew about medical issues

Roy - Knew about medical issues before they drafted him and when they extended him

Starting Blake over Miller

Babbitt - Sucks

Williams - knew about medical issues

KP

Cho

Comcast - was that after 2006?

Nate continues to coach even though this team hasn't been close to getting out of the first round

I said personnel decisions, as in building the roster.

And from your list, the only thing on there that really sucks is the Roy contract. Everything else is pretty minor.

Oden thing yes, but they picked the player everyone else would have picked. The situation is as much as bad luck as anything else.

Overall, the personnel decisions have not been bad at all over the past 5 years. The majority of issues your bring up are pretty minor.

edit - Cho's decision to trade Bayless...now that was bad. I'll give you that one.

Thanks for nothing, Cho.

Minor to some, but I count 8 first round picks that have been poor choices to this point. Oden might have been picked by many, but if the medical staff knew, which they said they did, then it was foolish to draft him

None of them are crippling moves(minus Roy). Missing on late 1st round draft picks is not unheard of. Pretty minor.

Really just leaves the Roy contract for me, but that problem is about to be taken care of.

The team would look like this...

PG Felton/Smith/Johnson
SG Wes/Batum/Williams
SF Wallace/Batum
PF Aldridge/Landry/Babbit
C Camby/Oden/Pryz/Johnson

Wow that team would never see a zone defense. Not a lot of shooters.

Landry would provide a nice scoring option for the Blazers off the bench. He can create his own offense.

After that he doesn't give you much, though.

That guy is awesome in fourth quarters. I would love the idea of him posting on one side and LA on the other and daring teams to double team one of them.

We desperately needed someone who could score and get to the line in fourth quarters last year with Brandon sidelined. We probably still need it now. Landry would be huge.

Doesn't a zone protect the paint and force teams to shoot outside? I'll take your comment as sarcasm and proceed:

Not a single great shooter there, but a series of decent ones. LMA is a shooter and that's an advantage over most 4s, Wes shot 41% last year from 3 so he's at least a threat, Batum while inconsistent thus far is not someone a team would give a shot to, Felton is certainly a shooter compared to Miller (everyone is), and Wallace is good enough. I think we could bust a zone, albeit consistency from our SFs would be extremely appreciated. Plus sharper passing this season (akin to the Mavs last year) would be helpful, especially with a guy like Wallace at the corner who has the threat of cutting if a man is lagging behind the perimeter shift.

I think Felton's relative ability to shoot at all should help us bust the zone better this year because the zone can't leave a man open and thus not shift over. IIRC that was the Mavs kryptonite against us at times.

Yes that was sarcasm.

Felton would really have to score. LMA is an excellent mid range jump shooter for his position. I love Wes but his pull up jumper is below average for a SG. He has more of a set shot. I love players who can hit the pull up J off the dribble. We gain Felton in and lose Roy in that scenario.

Batum is the wild card. He would have to step it up offensively. I guess in crunch time LMA would be at center and Landry would be in the game , so that would help. But the starting line up with Camby would struggle.

What can I say, I like the way Dallas plays and they have good mid range jump shooters. At least three on the floor at all times.

IMO that's one of the biggest downsides of losing Roy. Roy may or may not be able to cross someone over anyway, but losing his + jumper would be very relevant. IMO Keep Roy, sign Dante and Joel (or a similar cheap big man) and roll with that crew. Probably better options out there, but those are my short sighted signings.

Coach Mike D’Antoni still loves Hill’s veteran presence, versatility and defense. As much as the Knicks need a center, they may not get the one they want and already failed with Houston’s 6-foot-6 scrappy rebounder Chuck Hayes.

The Knicks reached out to Hayes’ reps yesterday, but a source said Hayes’ agent rebuffed a one-year deal at the full $5 million mid-level the Knicks have to offer.

“A lot of guys the Knicks want are two-year-deal guys,’’ one source said. “It will be tough.’’
