It turns out that Ant is better as a reserve, this is obvious. He has a better shooting percentage, three point shooting percentage, true shooting percentage, gets more points per minute played, gets more rebounds per minute played, gets a fraction of an assist less per minutes played when coming off of the bench. I'm obviously not interested in his game that was an outlier and was over a season ago, I'll take these recent numbers and make the common sense and obvious decision to have the better player in GTJ start and Ant come off the bench. Unless I'm looking for the continuity of having another guy starting next to Dame who is undersized for a SG, a bit of a ball hog, likes to pound the rock instead of taking wide open spot up threes and has no clue on defense.I was curious:

obvious sample size issues, and of course this doesn't include his one shining-light game from last season
what stands out to me isn't that he's actually worse as a starter, but how bad he has been overall. Trent is only 5 months older than Simons

ESPN has CJ listed as day to day and they also have LaVert, Harris and Allen listed as day to day.Is CJ out then?
This would kind of explain his performance, but why the fuck did Stotts play him so many minutes??

So 20 5 and 6 along with over 40% from 3 is bad? Sure Trent plays much better d but other than scoring his numbers are no where close.to McCollum. He shouldn't be playing. Start GTJ. He isn't playing well and there's no reason to potentially hurt himself worse.

Jaylen Adamsreally?
here is Portland current guard roster:
CJ McCollum
Anfernee Simons
Damian Lillard
Gary Trent Jr.
that's it...there's nobody else and Simons sucks. And Trent plays a lot of SF, in part because Ariza is not playing. And the SF alternatives are Hezonja, Little, & Hoard
yeah. this is a Stotts problem, but Olshey created it
My gosh if the medical staff is allowing this I'm gonna be pissed. They already let Hood and me tear our Achilles. Roy pulverize his knees. Do they want to let CJ end up in a wheelchair?
Why haven't the Blazers said anything about this. We are hearing from outside sources
Been held out because of injury. Is he available?Jaylen Adams
It's basically only one source and that's Dwight Jaynes. Seems all the other sources are only repeating what Jaynes is saying.
I saw an ESPN article that mentioned the NBCSNW report on the injury and said that ESPN had separately verified it with the team.

Second is, you aren't a doctor and have no idea if it is anything that can get worse and likely it is up to the player if any pain can be managed. He had a bad game. That happens but he also had a very good game and helped carry us on a night Lillard struggled just a couple games ago and after when he hurt his back. We will need McCollum if we make the playoffs
It's obviously painful. You don't go get checked out and have the x rays unless you are experiencing pain. That's fine as I had just seen several links that alluded to Dwight Jaynes. That video above was pretty good explaining it and why it isn't the issue that some are making it out to be. People get freaked out with the word broken but I remember my son's sophomore year in high school he played along side a senior that had a fracture in his foot and never missed a game and then went straight into basketball and never missed a game. Seems several posters are prematurely written McCollum off as the way I look at it, he just had one of those games that many players experience in their careers as I have seen some of the best have just as bad if not worse games. He had a big game a couple games before where he scored 29 points 4 rebounds and 8 assists while shooting over 50% from the field and over 46% from 3 and that was after he had hurt his back. We will need McCollum going forward despite what the haters continue to say about him.
If the reports are true then it's pretty obvious this injury is taking more and more of a toll on CJ. Just go back and watch the game you are referencing, then the Sixers game and then the Mavs game. He just keeps getting worse. He isn't missing tough shots, he's missing shots he makes all of the time. Layups, floaters and open jumpers. The guy is very clearly affected by something. If it's not his back then he's just breaking down mentally which I sincerely doubt. His defense hasn't been worse but that's not saying much. You have to look at him where he is actually usually good, on offense and you have to know something is really wrong. That's fine as I had just seen several links that alluded to Dwight Jaynes. Unless between his always bad defense and now swiftly eroding offensive game, he is actually hurting the team while he is out there hurting himself. If CJ can be CJ and the injury can't get worse then you are right... Go CJ Go but the injury really seems to be taking a toll on his ability to score and that is his ability. The reason CJ was playing? Because he wants to help his teammates achieve their goal. If he can handle the discomfort, he will play. Go CJ Go!
Jaylen Adams
With the lack of backcourt depth we absolutely need him - but this is not an inconsequential injury and you can't blame fans for being worried about the situation. I'm not CJ's biggest fan, but even as cold-blooded as I can be about the guy I wouldn't risk playing him if it put his long term career at risk!
And yes, it is ultimately his choice - but you know as well as I do that there are times a coach and med staff have to protect a player from his own competitive instincts.

So 29 points on 21 shots followed by 16 points on 17 shots followed by 8 points on 14 shots equals "swiftly eroding offensive game." Wouldn't you say that's a pretty steep decline?Swiftly eroding offensive game? The guy is putting up solid numbers. He just had a 29 point game with 4 rebounds and 8 assits against the Clippers.
