CJ is averaging 32/9 with Dame out

I also said end last year to when CJ and Nurk was out.
Much of the supporting cast has changed from last year. A better apples to apples comparison is this year.

According to most everyone & every in depth statistical analysis, Dame is better then CJ. It's my opinion that CJ is at his best with the ball in his hands as a lead PG but best on this Blazers squad as the off guard. Most every 2 guard is significantly bigger then him & he really struggles switching off on SFs, but they're making the best of it. I'd welcome a trade of either for an equal talent at another position that would provide a better complimentary fit & thats been my position for many seasons now. For discussion/forum politics it seems near impossible to suggest trading Lillard but whatever. It remains clear that the team is treading water. Adding Collins and Nurk to this won't change the bottom line that whats here isn't enough to compete for a championship.

STOMP

CJ is no Damian Lillard. He doesn't make his team better. His stats are empty just like Whitesides. Both should be gone.

Odd, ask Denver how empty his stats were while he beat them in the second round last year.

Still better than what Atlanta threw out there....and they crushed us.
Not even close.

We have been playing lineups with Simons/Trent/Little/Gabriel/Caleb in non-garbage time minutes. Caleb Swanigan is on an NBA roster and has the most NBA experience among his teammates for stretches.

CJ was still the best player on the floor. They had NO ONE who could guard Whiteside one the few times the Blazers threw the ball into him. Hassan could have had a 30/25 night without breaking a sweat. And outside of Young, Trent was as good as anyone else they had out there. They are terrible! Which is why they have the 4th worst record in the league. Just because our defensive philosophy is that of a Jr High team, doesn't mean "not even close".

But didn't we play them at their home? Their home record is better than our road record so who is the better team in that situation?

You know me....bigger picture and not just one game.

Talk about hyperbole. I would take Collins/Huerter/Hunter/Reddish/Graham/Teague over anyone on our team not named Dame/CJ/Nurk.

And Whiteside getting the ball more would only gimme an aneurysm. He took more shots than anyone outside of CJ that game. 14 is plenty for him.

Sidebar: With Reddish and Hunter coming on well, I wonder if ATL would part with Huerter. He'd be great as our SF.

That's fine....the Hawks are #4 in the Lottery for a reason. It's not my opinion, just how they have played this season.

They had also won 7 of their previous 9 at home. Young team on the upswing. We, otoh, are an old team on the downswing with our youngins not looking like NBA players.

Lol....this is fun. So with having won 7 of their 9 last home games, they are STILL the 4th worst team in the league?

id take Young over CJ everyday of the week and especially Last Saturday.

Can't believe some of the calls that kid got.
Its gotten to where if the league likes you... they really like you. Its so inconsistent though, sometimes Dame cant be touched other times its like he should get an attorney and file assault charges and no call...

Your post I responded to was you commenting on one game thus my rresponse. Now you want to move the goal posts to justify your response.

How many games did they play without their Collins? What's their record with and without him?

That used to be the case, but your anti-CJ shtick has grown to the point that that's one of the most laughable things I've read on this board.

I was actually surprised by Hueter's ability to put the ball on the floor and create offense. I knew he was a decent shooter but I was thinking he was kind of one-dimensional. Looked up his stats and he's actually averaging 3.5 assists in 31 minutes. That's around CJ's level. More impressive is that he carries a 2.2 assist/turnover ratio. And he's playing with a PG who is even more ball-dominant than Dame. He has a 62% assisted FG rate, and I consider that an optimal number for a supporting player

but I doubt the Blazers could convince Atlanta to part with him. If Portland has something like the 12th pick, give or take a couple of slots I'd wonder if that would interest the Hawks. Might have to be the pick + player (Little?)...too much? One thing is the Blazer and Hawks front offices have a relationship. Two trade in 8 months so at least the talk to each other

I was screwing around with this seeing if we could give them CJ for Huerter but they really don't have a ton of unreasonable contracts. Would be pretty hard to match them up and they aren't getting rid of most of the young guys like Hunter.

Why on Earth would Atlanta want to pair CJ with Trae Young? I can't think of a much worse back court than that on the defensive end.

You know what would be interesting though is that the Hawks have a ton of cap space this summer and could take on a big contract. What if it was something like this:

CJ to Orlando

Gordon to Atlanta

Isaac and Huerter (or Hunter) to Portland

Maybe picks involved somewhere? For Portland it would shed over $20 million off their cap number and they'd be a lot more cap friendly moving forward.

Dame and CJ. Lol. Ok its not worse now that Dame has figured out to play defense. I think Young will work on his defense a lot going forward too. Maybe they think he would help Young get a breather or something I dunno.

Seems like an interesting idea.

I would too given their current contracts.

Curious since I've repeatedly said how well I think CJ would do with his own team. Pointing out his rank in efficiency on his own team is not exactly so 'laughable' take, but simply just the way things are and have been for a while.

This is extremely skewed in Portland's favor.

Orlando is not giving up Gordon + Isaac for CJ. I doubt they'd even give up Isaac alone for CJ. I could see Gordon + minor asset (2nd round pick) for CJ though.

I can't see Atlanta giving up their young guys for Gordon either. I don't see the incentive for them.

I think Orlando would probably be willing to do Gordon and Isaac for CJ especially if they got like a protected pick or something. CJ's going to give them a better Combo guard then they currently have. It sounds like their mostly done with AG too.
