CJ McCollum favorite for ROY according to other rooks

IS Jason Terry good enough to start, yes. But he's more effective off the bench with a second unit or mixed in with starters down the stretch. That's how I envision CJ.

I think you made my point for me. In a poor draft class, it's not a bad idea to pick McCollum as a surprise winner of ROY/6th man. ROY is pretty attainable in this kind of class. As for 6th man, well, imagine Roy or Lillard were in the same position as McCollum. Would those guys win 6th man of the year (assuming they didn't supplant the starters)? Definitely.

I don't think McCollum is as good as those two. He hasn't had as impressive of a summer league. But maybe. That's why we watch the games.

You make some good comments here. But I will be shocked if Trey Burke is even in the discussion. He is about as much of a PG as CJ. But I am pretty sure that is where they will be playing him full time. He has a long ways to go IMO.

I'm in the group that thinks CJ just won't get enough minutes to be a real threat to win RoY. I think he will avg almost 20 a game but that won't be enough to displace a full time starter getting 30+ minutes with a green light.

I'm with ya. I think it shows an extreme lack of thought to suggest otherwise. Until the SG talent pool dramatically increases, Wes is a bona fide starter.

In one of the worst draft classes ever, it's really not that impressive. Whoever wins it shouldn't be that thrilled.

The draft where Roy won Rookie of the Year it was considered really a poor draft. Not trying to dismiss what your saying but even in terrible drafts there is almost always guys who turn out to be studs. The fact that current NBA players (like Lillard and LA) wanted us to draft him and players who were drafted in his same class think he's special is a great sign. Hopefully he turns out to be a steal.

I hate the idea of giving up on Meyers Leonard so soon. He's only 21 and was always supposed to be a project. I'm hoping to see him have a better growth curve as he practices against a real center in Robin Lopez. Robin may have some interesting insights into Leonard's game, since he plays like a very, very poor man's version of his brother Brook.
