Trade CJ McCollum to New Orleans

I think you guys are selling Collins short. From that 2017 draft class, he ranks:

5th in points
3rd in rebounds
6th in FG%
6th in 3ptFG%
4th in points/game
2nd in rebounds/game
4th in winshares
6th in winshares/48
6th in BPM
5th in VORP

8th in games
7th in minutes

I only see 4 players I would definitely rank ahead of him. There could be valid debate about 3 or 4 more

Thank you, you've proven once and for all how useless statistics can be. Do you really believe that any GM would rank Collins anywhere near 5th best among that draft class, in terms of roster building?

I already answered that

He probably will be around for one if not both Blazer picks. He's good and I think will be a rotation player relatively quickly wherever he lands. Bit of a poor man's Obi Toppin. I'm not sure there's a ton or room for him to get a lot better. He's like a high-floor, low-ceiling player. If you want a consistent rotation player who probably is your first forward off the bench on a good team longterm, I think he's your guy. If you're looking for a player who can be the focal point from time to time on a good team, if you're looking for a home-run, special player, he's probably not that.

So far, I thought Obi Toppin WAS a poor man's version of....Obi Toppin.

For all the talk of how great a coach Thibs is, he seems to be wearing out his welcome again. He reminds me of Vic Fangio a.k.a. Coach Indigestion. His act grows weary on his players, and he does not develop young players with his terrible rotations. Taj Gibson is his wubby. Who knows if Toppen, or Quickley will ever develop under him. Right now , all they are is uber inconsistant. Stotts had the same problem. The difference between Stotts and Thibs is, one was an offensive specialist, and one is a defensive specialist. Coaches like Billups seem to care about BOTH aspects of the game, and believe in developing the youth.

I could probably find a few more to draft ahead of him. I honestly don't see what separates him from Kyle Kuzma as a player, aside from continuity and touches.
what about Collins career efg% of 60 and Kuzma's 52?

Bam, DM, Tatum, Fox, Lonzo, Jarrett, OG, Kuz White, Hart Brooks and maybe Isaac ahead of Collins if done now. So I guess he moves up to 12th?

Isaac can't even stay healthy. Kuzma? A complete after thought. White? No. Collins would be taken over Hart.

I have a feeling Zion is going to go down as a massive bust because he can't stay healthy and he can't keep the weight off.

did yall catch Dame's new IG profile pic?

But will they bring up Oden more or less because of Zion?

They already are. Saw a post on Reddit a week or so ago comparing their overall number of games played in their first three seasons. They're basically the same.

Yeah but so many people called out the issues with Zion and his size before he was even drafted. Nobody was calling out fears about Oden.

Didn't he have a red flag with a knee or a wrist or some ish. I know not enough to sway, but he had one I think lol. #nitpick

I do recall some concerns over some issue he had with knee soreness/ tendonitis. I remember his college coach being questioned about it several times, but he shook it off mostly.

I just remember Bill Simmons being all over it on Oden pre-draft; said just watching him walk, he didn't move like someone who was healthy.

EDIT: correction--it wasn't pre-draft; it was at the ESPY's in July of 2007, 2 weeks after he was drafted that he said Oden "moved like Fred Sanford".

He had also been saying this leading up to it too. I remember the podcasts

Yeah, I remember that Fred Sanford business. Judging by how wrong Simmons usually was (and is - for someone so clueless, he sure is generous with his opinions), I dismissed it.

They had podcasts in 2007?
Simmons did, with Chad Ford and Marc Stein as regular guests, hosted on ESPN.

Hell, even Oregonlive used to host calls with Quick/Casey and stored the downloadable mp3s on their site years prior to that.

LOL i didn't expect to find this.

Here's an episode from before the draft in 07 where they talk about Durant/Oden. He specifically said Durant would be better. 20 min mark.
