Trade CJ McCollum to New Orleans

I guess I'm the only one who likes the deal?

I'm with you. I actually like this deal all things considered for following reasons:
  1. While Hart is a lesser player than CJ, I think he might be a better fit next to Dame if that's the plan. He can play 2-4 depending on the situation as well.
  2. Nance hurts on paper... but can anyone trust him to stay healthy??? Could he have recouped a first somewhere else? Perhaps, but in making him, theoretically, part of this trade you can arrange it so that you have no salary coming back (and perhaps he was worth the additional second as well).
  3. That first round pick is really intriguing and there is a fairly strong chance that it conveys this year. The Blazers could very well be looking at having two lotto picks (to either use or trade) this upcoming draft. The two returning seconds at least provide additional flexible assets, which we absolutely did not have previously.
  4. Yes, I know that cap space is overrated in Portland, but it gives you significant flexibility this coming summer.
Honestly, I'd rather be in our shoes than the Pelicans... I'm not sure where they think they are going in taking on CJ and his bloated extended contract.

Some have been hoping for a different style and mentality of play with Billups coming as a new coach. Somehow, what he was preaching didn't seem to stick.

Well, with a roughly 70% team turnover in the past few days (and who knows what is yet to come), we should see a different style and mentality.

If Billups can even come close to making any of this work, he deserves serious accolades. All I see coming down the road are abysmal losses.

Billups wants all guards?

They will use their cap space this off-season before signing ant. So we are getting some extra players. I don’t see us getting any big fish though, just overpaying for okay guys.

So we might not even see this pick if it’s in the 5-14 range?
Since it's NOH's, it goes to CHA if it's 15-30, so they can only offer it up if it's 1-14. They protected 1-4, so we get it if it's 5-14. They own their own/L*ker swap next year, so there's probably some first rollover.

We cleared the books of mediocre, often injured and overpaid players. The fans here thinking any Blazers (not named Lillard) could get a Jrue Holiday or Vucevic haul are deluded.

So if it’s top 5 does that mean the next year we get it?

The silver lining is we 'should' have 2 Lottery picks. We need to get REALLY lucky.

Neither of them are on the Pels

NA-W and Keon Johnson are more players on rookie contracts. Josh Hart and Eric Bledsoe are pros who play defense (as does Winslow, if he's ever healthy). Lots of people to buy into what Coach is selling

The Pels now have 3 top tier offensive threats. Zion is impossible to stop, Cj is a tough stop and his fade away in the lane is brutal when he's on, and finally BI with his silly length and shooting is trouble for defenses. Could be an exciting team, especially if/when Zion comes back 100%

Give Chauncey and Dame a chance this summer to maybe entice a player or too.

When is the last time a star player came to Portland in FA?

Last pictures I saw it looked like Zion was already at about 200%....

Seriously need to stop following Fanspo. They didn't have NO's own 22 pick on their list. Sorry for the confusion.
