after being cleared to practice yesterday, Cj Mcollum could is getting closer to a return. Although there is still no timeline for his return, blazer fans may have some worries on what his role will be on the team. He seems to be more of a shooting guard considering his scoring ability and his play style which before his injury was causing rumors of him challenging Wesley Mathews for the starting position. What do you think his return will bring to the team? As far as i'm concerned this team can only get better.

thanks! Ive been on the boards for 2 years now i just forgot my other account info so...

welcome!

Some might say that any minutes he gets will come at the expense of someone who will cause a chemistry problem b/c of losing them.

I'm of the opinion that CJ was drafted (and groomed in Summer League) to be the main backup guard. I'm stoked to see him able to play off the ball.

Holy crap.... young blood. Welcome. Tell your friends. We'll keep HCP away from you.

14?

This forum should have an age limit like the nicer all-inclusive resorts in Mexico

No, he can't get up the steps anymore. He's old.

An undersized SG is not what we need. That said, who knows what he'll bring to the table. I doubt he will be a defensive asset. My thinking is that we fell in love with Dame (small college senior...) and hoped that with CJ lightning will strike twice. As for me, I'm skeptical.

JJ barea was a pivotal piece in Dallas's championship run. You can't get more undersized than that. Speaking of that, Jason terry was pretty short too.

I'm looking forward to seeing CJ. You can never have too many 3 point shooters.

.......................................... welcome.

CJ is going to be terrific in this system. He can shoot from the outside, pass, and has the energy to improve on defense over time. I'm not as worried as some.

So he is 2?

Impressing typing skills, for sure

After the 1st year of a dog's life it has effectively gone through puberty. A year old dog is probably around 15. It averages out to 7 over the dog's lifetime.

CJ could help this team in a lot of ways, he will be another option if we need a scoring punch off the bench. He could give our starters more rest on back to backs. He provides insurance if there is an injury to any of Dam/Wes/Nic/Mo/Wright. It could be hard for him to find minutes when he first gets back but he will get chances at some point this season.

I'm just excited to see McCollum play. He will likely be our last lottery pick in a while, so it's going to be interesting to see what he can bring to our team.

The bench is perfect for undersized shooting guards. CJ could be the perfect spark off the bench. We need a consistent scorer. Mo is definitely not a consistent scorer for us right now.

I'm hoping he has better court vision to use his handle to either pull up and score or pass to open teammates better than Mo. Last night, again, Mo held the ball for an eternity while an open teammate was right there, begging for the ball. By the time he finally threw the pass, it was too late, we ended up not scoring, and the Pels did. Mo's poor decision making and ball hogging has real consequences that don't always show up in the box score.

I definitely agree! It's no secret that Mo is not being very consistent. Cj could really help fill that spot on the bench for a smart guard to make the right pass. Unless Mo can step up his game and be consistent, i think he can kiss quite a few of his minutes goodbye as they will be rewarded to Cj Mcollum if he is what he is expected to be.

Remember CJ is a complete rookie and has a learning curve like any rookie.

I can't wait until he replaces Mo in the rotation, at least for those minutes that Mo considers himself the primary ballhandler.
