On if he knew what to expect when the Trail Blazers traded for Jusuf Nurkić...

CJ McCollum: "I didn’t, he was an unknown. And it’s funny because my agent told me about him. He’s like ‘Nurk is going to save your season.’ I was like saying, ‘Come on man.’ He’s like ‘No CJ, I’ve been watching him’ — obviously make agency has Jokic so they were familiar with Jokic as well. I hadn’t really watched him. He came in the first day and he did some four-on-four stuff and I was watching him and I was like, he’s nimble, he’s able to run, get up and down the floor, he’s got skills, he’s got swag. I hit Sam (Goldfeder) back, I was like ‘You were right, this kid is the real deal.’ He’s only 22 years old. I was like ‘I like him, he’s mean and he’s not afraid.’ You didn’t see any sense of him being afraid. You see what he said after the Denver game, I was like he knows what he means and he means what he says."

That's so awesome. If his agent knew, surely Olshey did as well. @yuyuza1 time to change your avatar. :)

Of course Olshey and the Blazers scouts knew. Some of the posters here knew; to the point they had me on the Nurkic bandwagon before the trade even happened, and I didn't know shit about him before the season. ;)

It just seemed like he always beat the crap out of us when we played Denver. Glad he's on the right team now.

We were sooooo lucky that CJ fell to #10. If anyone saw the war room on draft night NO had the largest grin on his face after putting the pick in lol

On the board when we took CJ:

Giannis Antetokounmpo
Rudy Gobert

Just sayin'.

Yeah that's true. Just shows how bad the first nine GMs of the draft were lol

Edit: And Rudy was drafted #27 lol. We would have crucified NO if he drafted him at #10 if we could have gotten him later in the first round. CJ wouldn't have been there at 27.

Giannis is a monster. However, there really isn't a player in the NBA who's game I enjoy more than CJ's.

I love it when CJ brake-checks a guy he's just blown by, get him to foul him, and does that floater to get the and one. He doesn't do it often, but every time I'm thinking, "This is a 15-year-vet move coming from a 25-year-old."

Come on dude, we got a fucking Euro for you! Can't you just like him without hating that we don't have ALL the Euros?!

If you got some Euros. Then I could always use free currency. Might be taking a trip to visit some friends in the future.

I clicked around to watch other teams war room videos because I think it is cool to get an inside look. I feel like if the Kings were smart they would replace some of their staff with some of our forum members...

You can just tell Vivek was thinking "Stauskas, he's basically Steph Curry!"

Enjoyed the interview. It's funny how as I get older it changes my perspective on these players. CJ is 7 years younger than me. I appreciate him very much as a player and as a person but I can't look up to him or the other players the same way I used to when I was younger

Such an awkward video

Yeah I remember feeling that for the first time; Jermaine was the first player we had that was younger than me.

Yeah. Jermaine was the first Blazer older than me too. I stood next to him in a department store once. I thought, "this guy could probably tear my arm off and beat me with it like the Toxic Avenger." I wish he had stayed with us. It would have been nice to see him grow up into the player he finally became.

I'd rather have CJ than Rudy. The Greek Freak and CJ in my opinion is a toss-up.
You crazy. If we're talking interviews, both those things make sense. But if we're talking basketball...crazy.

I love CJ, don't get me wrong. But my love for players is not necessarily indicative of how good they are as players.

I'm not crazy. I like CJ's game just as much. That's it. We don't have to agree. That's why the forum exists.

Certainly CJ's game is a lot more valuable in today's NBA than it would be even 5 years ago. But both those guys are so elite defensively, and would complement Lillard so much better than CJ...
Granted CJ is a blast to watch. Gobert not so much. But how can Giannis be a tossup?

CJ is committed to winning in Portland. That's a quality that makes him pretty much untradable in my opinion. The Greek Freak though if he becomes an MVP candidate, what other player has that kind of game and measurables? He's a one-off.

So confused! How old are you? How old was Jermaine really?
