CJ to Boise.....

This is why we have our own D league affiliation. Use the D league to bring in healing players. Oden should have come back that way instead of embarrassing himself in Miami. Same with Roy in Minnesota or Bynum in Cleveland. Baseball has used the minor league effectively for years and in the NBA the Spurs have probably used it better than most franchises....I think Barton and Claver should go with him and get in some court burn.

CJ to the DLeague means the Blazers want him to practice playing PG.
The Blazers want CJ to play PG because they are unhappy with Mo Williams.

buy them some time for what?

Well like I said CJ probably wants to get out there and play. So The Blazers sent CJ down to the Stampede so he could do just that. Maybe? The Blazers are 25-7 and the last thing the need is some rookie coming in complaining about playing time. So maybe the Blazers bought themselves a little time?

Re: CJ going to the nbadl

ESPN - Trail Blazers assigned G C.J. McCollum (1st-round pick in 2013) to Idaho of NBADL

Remember when you told me to keep up? And that was in the giant 100-page Around the NBA thread.

So anyway, what if he eats too much potato soup? I'm worried he'll become addicted and stay there forever.

He would immediately be our best player off the bench.

I applaud your enthusiasm, but that's a pretty bold prediction for a guy who has only played a handful of summer league games since last February. And, in those summer league games, against inferior talent, he only shot 36.6% FG% and 31% 3FG%. He needs to do better than that, against better competition, to immediately be our best bench player. I do think he'll eventually be our best bench player, but it will take him a little while to adjust to the NBA game.

It's not like he's been sitting on the couch slamming back beers and donuts. He's been playing, he's ready.

Have you ever played competitive basketball. I'm not being a smart ass, it's a sincere question. I have and I've always found that when it comes to getting in game shape, there is no substitute for actually playing in games. That's one of the big reasons the NBA has a preseason. CJ hasn't played full court 5-on-5 since a few games back in early July. His assignment in Boise will give him a chance to do so. Plus, they play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday and have a Monday morning game in Reno. That will allow CJ a chance to get plenty of full court 5-on-5 under his belt and still join the team in Sacramento (it's a very short flight from Reno to SAC) in time for the Blazer's Tuesday night game against the Kings. He'll get a lot more burn in those 3 D-League games than he would sitting on the bench for the two Blazers games he will miss.

But whatever, he's going, I think it's a waste of time but that's just my opinion.

The coaching staff disagrees and I trust their judgement. The two games he'll miss are against Charlotte (second of a back-to-back) and Philadelphia, two games we should be able to win without him.

Repped for truth. It really can't be said better than this.

Well, I tried, at least. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Boob-No-More again.

Boob's been on fire lately. There are at least 3-4 of us who can't rep him until some of you others start pulling your weight. ;)

I don't see anything wrong at all with him going to the D league. That's what it's there for. Guys like Roger Clemens have played in minor league ball when they were trying to either gauge if they've still got it, OR they were trying to get back into game shape. I think we should be using the D League more. It's a tool that's not being utilized at all. This is a great way to get him into game shape and let him sharpen his game a bit.

That really didn't answer the question.

Yeah, CJ definitely strikes me as an immature self-entitled prima dona lotto pick who will bitch if he doesn't play ahead of a 10 year vet and former all star. The longer we delay his return, the better.

I like BNM, and he's certainly a fine poster. But him tearing apart weak-ass posts is hardly rep-worthy. You're overrating the intelligence on this board.

Is HCP starting the game thread? Hurry up! It's almost 6 pm!

And I do agree that Boob often floods you with one side of the stats just to silence you about player qualities which don't show up in stats.

Bring back Sergio! Shawn Kemp! Kemp!

Yeah, but history has repeatedly vindicated my one-sided stats arguments. Of course in Kemp's case it was pretty easy. I only needed one stat (weight) to make my point.
